Wedges and Polish Pairings

wedges, west town mall, nail polish, rack room shoes, sephora nail polish, pedicure ideas, open toe shoes, black wedges, tan wedges, white wedgesA couple months ago, I swore to my husband that this summer I was not going to try and reach around my bulging pregnant belly to paint my toes. I said I was going to get a pedicure every time!

…So far that hasn’t happened. But this I promise you – it will happen! At some point before I have this baby I will find the time to get a pedicure!

Until then, let’s look at these polish and wedge pairings for our feet this summer.

All of these wedges can be found at Rack Room Shoes in West Town Mall. All of the nail polishes are by Nails and can be found at Sephora (which now has a mini shop open in JCPenney!).

I like to go a little bolder on my toes sometimes and this colbalt blue will definitely grab you by the eyeballs. I think these subdued black cut out wedges would be a perfect pairing for something so playful.

No matter what age you are, you can dive right into the lace trend with these cute white lace wedges. They’ve GOT to be comfortable since there’s not one pressure point on your foot. So that’s a plus, and pairing them with a bright coral polish is a plus plus seeing as how your feet will be really on trend. Listen if our feet can’t get with the times, why are we even trying?

Let’s talk easy breezy for a moment. This nude low-wedge sandal looks to me like it’s begging for the nickname, “Old Faithful” as in – I can reach for these any time and they’ll go with whatever I’m wearing while still being wildly comfortable. Lets balance out the look of dependability with a crazy fun polish like emerald green.

I used the word “subdued” earlier to describe that first pair of black cut out wedges, but that word doesn’t belong in the same room as these shoes. That word goes running out of the building the minute these black cut out wedges show up. How wildly fun are these!? And speaking of wild fun, let’s keep it going all night by making your pedicure a shiny silver metallic color. Yow-zah! Pair these two with a simple black dress or another subdued basic so as to keep that spotlight pointed directly at your feet!

These Beauty Products Went to the Head of the Class in 2014

urban decay, makeup setting spray, beauty blender, smashbox, under eye concealer, artistry, dove, hair spray, best beauty products from 2014

Between subscription beauty boxes and new beauty technology, it seems that the beauty product world is taking great strides to make things easier for us all. Pretty soon we’ll be doing the Jane Jetson thing – walk into our closet and a few puff of makeup-laden clouds later, emerge ready to take on the day!
I’m excited to see what 2015 is going to bring, but I’m also very happy to take my favorite products from 2014 into the new year.

Here are my top five favorite beauty product picks from 2014…

Dove Hair Spray
I have tried so many different brands and holds, but this Dove extra hold hair spray that you can pick up at any grocery store, has become my absolute favorite. When I spray it on while I’m styling then again afterwards, I can wake up the next day with the same hair. It also doesn’t crunch up and leaves my hair shiny

Beauty Blender

This little sponge doesn’t look amazing, but once you try it you’ll believe. If you get it a little damp, it expands to twice it size and becomes the absolute best way to apply concealer or really any kind of foundation to your face. It gets right in there and leaves your makeup so smooth.

Artistry Moisturizer and Spot Corrector
This was the year I really decided to spend a little extra on my skin. Because it’s something you’re wearing always so why not invest a little more in it. Their spot corrector actually works, and this moisturizer does a great job of brightening your skin overall. Contact this gal to get you some!

Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer
This is a primer that goes under your concealer. It automatically brightens your under eye area just by itself, and it helps your concealer stay put. I just started using this and I’m impressed by it. You can pick it up at Sephora or Dillard’s.

Urban Decay Makeup Setting Spray
I am addicted to this stuff. It just provides the perfect pick-me-up mist in the middle of the day and really helps set my makeup. On the days I use it I can tell a difference on my face. My makeup doesn’t look so tired. And if you get the big bottle it will last you a long time. This one has lasted me a full year.

The $13 Sephora Item I Can’t do Without

Eyebrow pencil

This little beauty has quickly become high on my list of “must have beauty products.”

It’s the Sephora brand eyebrow pencil. And it’s fantastic. After trying other (more expensive) brow fillers I found that they just didn’t fill my brows in like I needed them too.

I’ve heard really great things about Sephora’s in-house brand, and sure enough it wasn’t all lies – this little brow pencil is great. On the one side is the self sharpening pencil that’s small enough to mimic the look of little hairs, and the other side is a tiny brush, that keeps those unruly hairs in check (it’s like that big thick paddle our parents used to wield around).

It lasts over a month, and only costs $13 (if you can get out of Sephora with just this in your bag, more power to you). All you have to do with it, is make light quick strokes where you need filling. Be sure not to be right up against the mirror when using it. The best way to assess what you need is to stand a little ways back.

Side note: even if you have dark brows like mine, go for a taupe-shade brow filler. You don’t want your eyebrows looking too harsh. Soft and natural is the way to go.

The Best Beauty Products for Spring

I'm buying all of these this spring!
Now that winter is passed, I like to get pumped about showing more skin by looking at what products are going to help me look and feel my best.

Here are the top five I plan to buy this season (translation: be looking for their reviews in future blog posts)…

Lips:

Revlon’s Colorburst Stain Balm promises to take the best of the stain and balm worlds and fuse them together to make one long lasting yet moisturizing burst of color. I can’t wait to try it!

Legs:

Jergens BB Cream for your body with it’s skin brightening/correcting/evening capabilities sounds like just the thing I need for legs that have been in hibernation. (I first alerted you to it here)

Face:

Sephora has an airbrush foundation out that has gotten rave reviews. Apparently all you have to do is spray it on. Sounds like those days I don’t feel like putting any makeup on just got a little more glamorous.
Aveeno’s daily moisturizer is probably going to get the first draft pick over my Oil of Olay lotion. I keep reading how amazing this product is at brightening your skin so alright already! I’ll try it!

Nails:

Just when you thought they couldn’t get any more creative with nail polish, OPI has done it again! Seriously HOW do they think of these things?! I can’t wait to try their new “Sheer Tints” collection. They are super light top coats that layer on the color. Use them alone, or over your favorite polish for a whole new look! How FUN!!

Keep it fresh with these products and a daily dose of Spiff this spring and this will be your best season yet!

This Weeks Nails

I’m with Brad this week.

Let me explain…

I love to get inspired for my next nail color. Instead of standing in front of all the bottles, staring blankly at each color wondering which one to use next, I like to have a color craving.

Two weekends ago I watched a hostess type in my name with nails painted a deep dark red. It made me crave that color, so this week I turned to my Sephora brand OPI color of “I’m with Brad.”

Overall, I’m not a huge fan of Sephora’s OPI because the brush is very very small, however I have had this color for years and it painted on and dried like it was brand new. So there’s something good about their version.

I love this color because it’s such a rich, deep dark red that you can almost miss the redness. What you don’t miss is the fact that it’s got such great depth of color and that’s what makes it so gorgeous.

Hopefully I’ve inspired you with a color crave. What color shall we paint our nails next!?
