A Fun Girls Collection From GAP

There are a few things I’d like to go back to childhood for. A designated nap time is one of them, eating anything I want and also guilt-free lazy Saturdays.

Probably the number on thing I’d like to recapture from childhood is being able to pull off some really snazzy outfits with no abandon (I unashamedly rocked a Nancy Kerrigan-esque leotard on ice skates as a kid. Jealous much?). I want back not just the ability to pull off fun clothes, but also the attitude, the childlike innocence that says, “Yeah, this is what I’m wearing booger breath, deal with it.”

GAP has teamed up with Ellen Degeneres to create a collection for girls that turns up the volume on that child-like boldness. It’s filled with cute pieces that cultivate that care-free attitude while leaving the door wide open for creativity and customization (see the great patch collection that can be used to stick on any of the pieces).

And true to the GAP brand, everything can be mixed and matched to create layers upon layers of outfit possibilities. So stop by GAP Kids in West Town Mall to snatch up some of the fun!

Let Gap Put the Cool in School

GAP kids, back to school clothes, back to school, kids clothes, gap, west town mall, outfit ideas for back to school

By the time you read this, I’ll have a son. Which is a wild group of words to type and then see written out. *Pause* My point with it is I’ve become acutely aware of how important great clothing is for kids. And this is only the beginning.

Gap Kids at West Town Mall has proven to be a great place to buy cool clothing that’s smart (as in functional), durable and mixable! I’m starting to realize the fact that so many of their items can be worn together in different ways is so valuable when you’re trying to get them dressed in something cute and out the door as fast as possible.

I cannot WAIT to dress my little guy up in their stuff!

Take a look at some of the great items they’ve got for back to school (can I borrow a pair of those adorable pleated leopard shorts?). And the backpacks…lets pretend it’s the 90’s and my backpack purse is just larger than normal, OK? OK.

Don’t forget they have a great uniform selection as well. Having been a child who had to wear uniforms I can tell you that having quality stuff from Gap will really save you money, time and frustration in the long run.

Goals and a Style Plan Made Interesting, I Promise

So I’m going to ask a potentially uncomfortable question…where are you at with your goals for the year?

I’ll share an update with my goals so it may make you feel better… Back in January I talked about doing a style refresh, which included some of my goals for the year.

For example, the one goal of mine was to make social media time productive. While I have done that in some ways (planned Jackson’s nursery…ok I’ve done it in one way), I haven’t really limited my mindless scrolling time. I don’t know why our brains suddenly depend on a social media break, when just 6 years ago they barely knew what it meant. Regardless, I can be better at stopping myself from grabbing my phone every 30 minutes to see information that does me absolutely no good.

The goal I have done well with, is being careful how I shop. The goal of not buying something just because it was on sale has really prevented me from buying things I’m really not going to wear. I don’t want to fill my closet up with junk pieces.

A new goal I’ve added to the list, is coming up with a maternity style plan. Funny thing about me…10 years ago I was not a planner. At. All. Then I met my husband. He plans his path through Wal-Mart. So in the 6 1/2 years we’ve been married, a lot of that planning has rubbed off on me. It’s mostly shown up in planning what I wear.

After showing up late to a lot of functions because I was frustrated with finding something to wear, I realized planning an outfit in advance would really help me feel better and look better (which is always the goal). I now religiously plan what I’m wearing. Saturday, my husband and I are going to run errands, I already know what I’m wearing. It’s not uncommon for my Sunday morning outfits to be planned out weeks in advance.

That’s why I came up with a maternity plan, because what I REALLY want to avoid is frustration over that baby bump.

Above is my idea board.

I’m going to shop for deals, but I do plan to replace each pair of jeans I currently wear with their maternity version. That way I won’t miss a beat with my pants.

Maxi dresses are going to really come in handy because I’ll be able to wear those before and after (plus I can wear them 100 different ways). And blazers, well I’ll be stocking up on these for the rest of my life pregnant or not.

And statement necklaces are something I’m really going to load up on so that I can get away with repeating the same basics but still add my own flare.

You should try this. Start formulating a plan for what you want to wear this spring/summer. It will really focus your shopping time and help you put outfits together with greater ease.

Valentine’s Day Goodies Under $22

I’m going to get right down to it and say what everyone’s thinking… Yeah, these things are nice to have, but who wants to spend a lot of money on something like this?

That’s why I tracked down some options that are pretty but won’t break the bank (they’ll barely break a twenty).

valentine's day lingerie, lingerie, forever21, dillard's, bra, underware, inexpensive lingerie, west town mall

First up we’ve got this cute little lace number from Dillard’s. Last time I checked they were coming off a really, really great semi-annual sale. So you may be able to scoop up some deals if they still have sale items out. And even if they don’t this lacy top is only $11, while the skirted bottoms are $14.

GAP is where this hot and juicy red set is from. The panties are only $8 while the bra rings in at $21. The nice thing about buying a special set like this is not only will your underwear and bra actually match, but you’ll be able to get some everyday use out of your purchases.

Lastly this happy little negligee is from Forever21. They’ve really got a great selection of items over there, all at (surprise) really affordable Forever21 prices. Go check them out and grab this baby doll slip for only $16.80.

There you go. My work here is done, the rest is up to you :)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Baby Ogle

The biggest faith project of my life has been this child. Every woman has a different story as to what their pregnancy journey was like, some are a lot harder than others.

I don’t know if I’ll ever share mine, but just know the news of this baby has sent us into a three and a half month celebration. Complete with lots of happy tears…not excluding this moment as I write this, haha.

Every day a new layer of realization that we’re having a child sinks into my brain. There are moments when I feel like the little girl version of me dreaming of the kids I’ll one day have. And in those moments it’s a pretty marvelous thing to think I’ll be able to meet that “future child” in just about six months.

Yesterday I got to announce whether we’re having a boy or girl on the morning show by using really adorable clothes from GAP kids in West Town Mall. Click here to watch it, then keep reading!

It’s Valentine’s week and I’ve fallen in love with a new boy. His name is Jackson Edward.

A name I love not only because it comes from his dad (my husband’s middle name is Edward, as is his dad’s and his grandpa’s). The name Jackson came about first because I love the different sounds. I won’t go into the details, but I really love the sounds the consonants make (I know, word nerd alert) :)

His name is also special because it’s part of the name of my hometown, and the fact that my kid gets to carry that around with him is really cool.

I can’t wait to meet this little man! He’s so deeply loved already, I can’t wait to tell him that to his sweet little face.

Thanks for reading along. The best is yet to come!
