Valentine’s Day Goodies Under $22

I’m going to get right down to it and say what everyone’s thinking… Yeah, these things are nice to have, but who wants to spend a lot of money on something like this?

That’s why I tracked down some options that are pretty but won’t break the bank (they’ll barely break a twenty).

valentine's day lingerie, lingerie, forever21, dillard's, bra, underware, inexpensive lingerie, west town mall

First up we’ve got this cute little lace number from Dillard’s. Last time I checked they were coming off a really, really great semi-annual sale. So you may be able to scoop up some deals if they still have sale items out. And even if they don’t this lacy top is only $11, while the skirted bottoms are $14.

GAP is where this hot and juicy red set is from. The panties are only $8 while the bra rings in at $21. The nice thing about buying a special set like this is not only will your underwear and bra actually match, but you’ll be able to get some everyday use out of your purchases.

Lastly this happy little negligee is from Forever21. They’ve really got a great selection of items over there, all at (surprise) really affordable Forever21 prices. Go check them out and grab this baby doll slip for only $16.80.

There you go. My work here is done, the rest is up to you :)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Also, before you go running to see Filthy Fifty Shades of Gray, read this.

You Need a Little Black Dress (You Really Do)

It’s the week of Valentine’s day, so I’m taking some time to talk about what the boys like.

You can insert you own man whenever I say “boys”, or you can just take a lot of notes if you’re single.

The whole idea for this weeks theme came to me last year when I was standing in a store, witnessing an exchange between a man and a woman (I assume they were husband and wife, but I don’t know for sure). They were both shopping in an upscale woman’s store, when the man spotted a little black dress. He held it up and said, “What about this? This is nice.” The woman immediately dismissed it by saying, “I don’t need that, where would I wear it?”

I can totally understand where she’s coming from. Sometimes we look at nice things and think they would just take up space in our closet. And sure, they probably would. But the look of disappointment that showed up on his face after she said that, made me sad for both of them. I’m not saying their marriage was in shambles, but I think she would have felt good if she would have bought something fancy like that, even if she wore it to Applebee’s. And regardless of where she wore it, he would have thought she looked beautiful.

That’s not the first time I’ve heard about husband’s saying they wish their woman dressed up more often. I know it’s surprising. Sometimes it can feel like we’re putting in all this effort and they’re not noticing. But I think they do more than we realize. And even if they’re not, dressing up would definitely get their attention.

Enter: this little black dress.

white house black market, little black dress, dress, fancy dress, why you need a little black dress, whbm

It’s from White House Black Market and I picked it because it’s pretty, flattering on most body types, and has a little spiff to it (it would also work for a wide range of ages, so don’t go thinking you’re too old).

The A-line shape is going to help hide a larger bum and hips, and the nipped in waste will help define you if you’re looking to disguise your mid-section. The v-neck draws all the attention to your face and when paired with the black, makes the whole thing very slimming.

Now I know a lot of women don’t want to wear sleeveless. This dress could totally support a cute cardigan. Something slinky – not librarian for cripes sake.

And with the sheer mesh panels at the bottom this LBD is anything but boring.

Listen, you’re going to feel so good in something like this, and he won’t be able to keep his eyes off you. If I could fake the really deep voice of the Men’s Warehouse guy I would and end with, “I guarantee it.”

Want to Know What Love Is?

To prepare you for today I’ve shown you what to buy, and wrote two blogs on what to wear (here and here). Now let’s talk about love.

Want to know what love is?

love

This is love…

God showed how much He loves us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. -I John 4:9

I’ve been studying Romans 8 for a little while and I’ve found lots of good things in it (it’s really an amazing chapter). One of the things I noticed is how the first part of the chapter is about watching your thoughts and keeping them in line with the Word, but before it goes into any of that the whole chapter starts with… “So there is now no condemnation…”

I love that, because we’re not perfect and God knows it. He knew what He was getting into when He paid the price for us. So what we’ve got to remember is that there is no condemnation.

If you’ve sinned, if you’ve looked at yourself and belittled how you look or maybe you’ve allowed pride to settle in…there’s no condemnation. He wants you to run right back to Him and tell Him everything. That’s love.

That’s a love that is almost hard to get your head around. But He truly loves us that much and more.

Remember that today and every day you feel as if you’re not good enough. I want to get that concept so deep down in my soul that I not only grasp it for myself, but I want to put it to practice with others as well.

That is love. And His is the kind of love that we can’t be seperated from, for later on in Romans 8 it says this…

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow — not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below — indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
-Romans 8:38-39
That’s God’s love letter to us today! Happy Valentine’s Day :)

The One Place Specialty Lingerie Stores Don’t Want You to go

Contrary to what Victoria Secret tries to tell you, you don’t have to get a second job to buy a sexy bra.

I know, I’ve got a closet and even an underwear drawer riddled with Vicky and her little secrets, and there are some things I like about what they have to offer and something’s I can’t stand.

Paying a lot for something that I’m not buying for its practicality (ifyaknowwhatimean) is not on my list of things I want to do.

I’d like to look good, of course, but it doesn’t take a lot of material (or a lot of money) to do that.
That’s why I love what Forever21 has to offer.

They’ve got a great selection (albeit small, but still good) of things to buy and wear for the holiday (or any day *wink). Like this corset bra which is only$14.80.

Don’t even get me started on panties. Sure, Vicky’s are cute but almost every single one I own from there has ripped after wearing it only a few times.

I like this pink pair for $4.80 that totally matches this bra (they love it when we match…for real) that’s only $5.80!

That’s exactly what I’d be willing to pay for items such as these (whether they rip after a few wears or not).

Point is, there are some cute cheap options out there, that won’t break the bank. So get yourself on in there (whether you’re 21 or consider yourself forever 21) and get you something cute to wear without taking out a loan.

A Fun Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

So I did all that bragging on air last Tuesday about how the link to my segment would be posted and you could email it to your man.

Unfortunately, I never got a hold of that link. But the good news is I’ve listed out all the gifts I talked about on my latest Style Setter blog!

Instead of dropping hints and hoping that he’ll buy the right thing this year, why not pick something on this list and email it on over to him so there’s no question about it ;)

There’s even a few ideas on here for what you can get him!
