A Spiffy Valentine’s Day

Today on Ten News This Morning I’m talking about Valentine’s Gift ideas – I’ll post the segment later.

I’ve also shared some really funny Valentine’s Day cards to go along with the stuff so I wanted to share where I printed these (free!) cards. They’re super funny and perfect if you’re like my husband and myself and don’t take yourselves too seriously…

Shout out to LandeeSeeLandeeDo.com for these genius cards!

The One Tool You Need for an At-Home Spa Treatment

fresh kale bath company, jade roller, at home facial, knoxville beauty, shop local knox, west town mall shop, knoxville beauty blogger

I know I’ve been talking a lot about skin care on the blog recently – but there’s not a lot of clothing purchases being made around here other than for a tiny human.

I’m working on a pregnancy/maternity looks post, but until then let me give you this amazing tip on the tool you NEED right now…

Getting a facial is always on my list of things “to do one day” but if I’m totally honest – it’s never going to happen. I have a hard enough time scheduling time to go to the supermarket (God bless ClickList).

So to ease my guilt of not taking proper care of my skin in my younger years and for continuing to put off the facial – I’ve decided to spend my money on products and tools that I can use at home on the regular.

Enter: the jade roller.

Back in 2017 it was all about Derma Rollers and poking at your face with tiny needles. Basically aerating your face like you would your lawn except way more painful in a, “hurts so good,” type of feel.

I’ve since jumped off that cringe-worthy bandwagon and joined the thousands of happy, glowy people taking a cold stone to their face and rolling it back and forth. Ahhh. Feels so good.

So what does this roller do? Let me just have the Fresh Kale website describe it…

This jade facial roller can be used from your forehead to décolleté to build a younger, firmer, stronger skin. + Aid and reduce the appearance of fine lines, puffiness, and wrinkles + Increase lymphatic drainage + Exercise facial muscles, detox and tone the skin + Improve elasticity of the skin, soothe irritated sensitive skin

Doesn’t that sound awesome!? Lymphatic drainage – heck yeah! haha

It has helped my under eyes be less puffy. And boy does it feel good rolling that smooth cold stone across your face. I don’t know why – but it does. It’s like the world slows down for a minute.

Here is how I’ve worked it into my routine to simulate a facial at home…

  1. Cleanse skin
  2. Apply a mask
  3. Rinse it off
  4. Pat a good facial oil in my hands and then onto my face
  5. Use the facial roller to roll the oil around all the places of my face, while simultaneously doing all of the above up there

The tube it comes in shows you just how to use it and which direction to go to so it’s completely fool proof.

My toddler insists on trying it because, “Mommy, my skin is heavy” so if you experience the same, here’s your answer.

I’m telling you this because you need one of these and since it’s less than $35 go ahead and grab one for your friend this Valentine’s Day! Go see the ladies at Fresh Kale Bath Company for yours – located right outside of JCP in West Town Mall!

Celebrate Love with These Gifts

pottery barn, west town mall, valentine's day decorations, knoxville shop, shopping knoxville, shop knoxville, knoxville style, knoxville style blogger, mom blogger, knoxville mom blog, fresh kale bath company

Everything you need to show someone you love, minus the hanky panky.

AN-Y-THING on this table by itself would make a beautiful gift for your Valentine (or yourself), but what would be a special treat is to have a whole table decorated with dinner on top. WE CAN ALL DREAM TOGETHER.

Excuse the fact that I wasn’t confident in my use of the term “votive.” Otherwise, enjoy these beautiful gifts I pulled together from stores all around West Town Mall ;)

I hope this inspires you to love on someone and/or yourself today. And I hope you have a spiffy day!

Treat Yourself or Someone You Love

valentine's day gift ideas, cute valentine's day gifts, west town mall, knoxville blogger, west town mall gift ideas, gift ideas for valentine's day, bath bomb, cheap vera bradley, friend gifts for valentine's day

Let’s see if we can get all of these gift ideas to fit in a love language

Just for kicks. It’s either that or fold the mountain of towels. Yeah.

By the way, all of these things can be found at West Town Mall! Which also has a Godiva Chocolate, Chocolate Monkey or (if you’re trying to win your way into my heart) an Auntie Anne’s. THOSE PRETZELS ARE AMAZING.

Francesca’s

Gifts one, two and four pictured are from this little treasure trove of a store.

So the first love language we can hit is words of affirmation. The Bestie book is perfect for that because you fill in the blanks! As a word love myself, I can see where this would make someone feel truly special.

The cutie tea diffuser that hangs on the side of your mug is a great gift for someone who loves them. And the gold cord set, well it’s gold. So you’re winning no matter what their love language.

Bath and Body Works

Four – these are bath bombs! They’re all the same size in real life, I just played around with them for the visual effect.

And they’re in all your favorite Bath and Body scents! I think this is a total tread YOURSELF gift (that I’ll be gifting myself in the near future).

They would fall in the physical touch  or quality time category. We’ll let you interpret that however you want.

Vera Bradley

Gifts five six and seven are so cute! They’re all from Vera.

Let’s get creative and say they can all be filed under acts of service. Especially if you hold the umbrella over your loved one in the rain, fill their cup up with their favorite drink and fill out some forms for them with the pens…? We’re stretching it there.

But still, all of these things are inexpensive, beautiful ways to show your friends, family and loved ones (or just YOU) how much they’re appreciated!

Get over to West Town Mall today!

My Two Valentines!

our familyYou know Dayton was the first boy I ever spent Valentine’s Day with.

I was always a summer-dater who didn’t like the commitment once school started, so I didn’t have many relationships in the winter. But he changed that. And boy, did he win me over big time our first day of love together…

We got all dolled up to go on the river boat for a dinner cruise and in the parking lot before we went in, he hands me a gift. It’s a book that he had published that was the story of how we met. I had started the story as a way to survive while telemarketing (the worst possible job for someone like me who hates talking on the phone), and he picked up where I left off and got the whole thing published.

I mean…

To this day when I pass it on the bookshelf I’m still breathless at the thought and time that went into that.

Yadda, yadda, yadda 11 years later I had his baby ;)

I’m so excited to be mom to this little boy, but even more so I’m excited for him to have Dayton as his dad. To teach him things like how to impress a girl and how to treat her right.

Make sure you’re treated right this Valentine’s Day – even if it’s treating yourself to something fun! :)
