Good news: I’ve got a great way to update your whole closet for summer without spending a lot of money.

Better news: It will always fit.

Maybe you just had a baby and your tight fitting shirts aren’t so flattering yet (HYPOTHETICALLY). Maybe you plan on eating a lot at summer cookouts and you don’t want it to show. Either way, there are two categories you should stick to that will breathe new life into your basics: jewelry and shoes. Now let’s cover the latter…

Summer shoe trends have changed in the last two years. Where we used to see lots of heavy gladiator styles, now we’re seeing more simple slides. I can’t say that it’s good comfort-wise because it really depends on the show. I can say that it’s great style wise because now we can more easily throw on a pair of patterned shoes with a totally neutral outfit and instantly add some personality.

Also, it’s another way to wear animal print. I’LL TAKE IT.

Here are some beautiful slide/animal print styles I found at Fiore Boutique in West Town Mall. They really have a shoe for every occasion this summer and I love all the fun details – like the scalloped edge on the black pair and the two different kinds of snakeskin slides.

5 Tips to Keep Your Hair Healthy & Spiffy this Summer

If you’re going to be in and out of the pool, the heat or even just in and out of bed (CAN I GET AN AMEN) I’ve got some tips to help you keep healthy hair!

This time of year our hair can take a beating, but it doesn’t have to with a few tweaks to our routine.

So take just a few minutes and watch these hair tips that I gave on 10 News This Morning.

One thing I didn’t get to mention on the show… that amazing brush I talk about at the end – that’s a great tool to use to get all the tangles out of your hair BEFORE you shower. I stand there and brush out my whole head before getting it wet so that I don’t have to deal with tangles afterwards.

I hope this will help you maintain spiffy hair this weekend and that you have a great time relaxing with family and friends!

Here’s What to Buy This Time of Year

With all the great sales – you want to buy it all.

It’s amazing how a super sale add appeal to something you would normally pass up. A brown pair of bell bottoms? Normally I’d say no, but they’re an extra 30% off! Ew. No.

Let me show you how I sale shop.

First, I go in with my specific style goals in mind. That way I am able to buy things that will fill my needs and I’ll save money doing so.

If something is just beautiful and doesn’t necessarily fit into my goals then I ask myself these two questions…

1. What is the outfit I can make wearing this piece tomorrow with what I already have in my closet?

2. Do I already own something like it? (this is especially helpful if I find black pants, jeans and/or a gray shirt as I own PLENTY of those).

Finally, if I’m refusing to bend to my own rules and I’m going all West Side Story with the love affair of whatever I’m holding, I walk away. They say if you love something, let it go. I do that physically and see if it comes back into my mind. If it does – winner, winner, chicken dinner. If I’ve forgotten about it 20 minutes later – it was just a fling.

Now, with those things in mind, here is a list of pieces you can get great deals on this time of year…

SWIMSUITS

No one can be more ready for fall than I am right now. NO ONE. But I am going to freakin’ love myself next summer when I pull out the name-brand swim suit I got on super sale, so now is the time to buy suits.

SUMMER BASICS

The great sales are on because stores are trying to rid themselves of summer inventory. So let’s stock up on things we’ll need next summer. Of course just because we’re now in a month with more than 4 letters doesn’t mean it’s going to cool of tomorrow (although the weather’s been pretty AWESOME). That just means you’ll get a little extra use out of the items for a few more weeks.

The thing I would advise about buying summer pieces, is stick to the basics. Simple, quality pieces that you got at a discount are going to last you and your taste well into summer 2018. Whereas bold things may not jive with what you want to wear once the hot weather rolls around again.

LAYERING PIECES

Tanks you can wear alone now and easily layer underneath a jacket or sweater later are the sweet spot of purchases right now. You can wear them all you want while the weather is warm, then get even MORE use out of them under jackets and sweaters later.

I’m all about saving you from filling your closet with “junk food” purchases that will prevent you from looking your best!

Summer Style Plan 2017

Does your struggle look like this?

You stand in your closet, starring at what you own for 20 minutes not knowing what to wear almost every time you go to get dressed.

While shopping, you browse aimlessly just looking for something you like, and end up buying random pieces or things you already have four of.

Once you get home with your purchases, you find yourself STILL starring into your closet for 20 minutes not knowing what to wear.

If you can identify with any of that, even if you just want to have great style this summer – I’ve got a plan to help!

I’m going to walk you through making a style plan. Why is it so important? Because it will save you time and money – I can’t think of two more valuable things to save, so I’m going to drop the mic at that.

Here’s where you start…

Sit down and list out all of the categories you need to get dressed for. Do you have to get dressed up several times a week? Do you wear mostly athleisure outfits during the day? (Raises hand).

Next, list out what you have a good amount of in your closet already. Say, you’re one of those beautiful people who like to buy black pants. Or your one of those geniuses who buy lots of jeans (all of which is TOTALLY hypothetical I don’t know anyone like these examples). If you know you have… let’s just throw a number out there, 11 pairs of jeans, then list “jeans” as something you don’t need more of.

Now think of what you need. When was the last time you got stumped getting dressed? Did you have a pair of pants in your hand and didn’t have a top to pair with them? Were you going somewhere dressy? Then list “dressy tops”! Or maybe you were headed out on a hot day and still wanted to look cute but only had a tank to wear so list “I need great shorts”.

Now that we know what we need, we’re going to think about how we want to look.

Enter: Pinterest.

Poke around on there and see what you like! If you find a board that you often jive with (HERE’S A LINK TO MY PINTEREST BOARDS) then follow them (YOU CAN FOLLOW ME HERE) and tell 10,000 of your closest friends about it.

Start a board for summer style! Pin what you love! Above is what I’m going to keep in mind when I get dressed/go shopping for summer outfits. It just helps to have a visual of what “look” you’re going for.

The goal is to keep focused on the style you want and the needs you have – both of which will save you time and money! Yay! Let’s love how we look this summer! Speaking of which, here’s how to love your body no matter what this season.

Attend Outdoor Events Spiffy & Organized

The picture just about sums up any time I’m on air with Brandon – I’m trying to stifle a laugh and he’s smirking ;)

I so enjoyed this segment because I got to bring you products from Bohemian Baby! They were my go-to source in teething days.

Side note: They sell something called “Pumpkin Butt” that yes, does sound like my nickname in high school, but is also the greatest magic working miracle for when your baby is teething. Rub it on their gums and wha-la! You get hours of sleep.

Regardless of your child’s age and even whether or not you have one – these bags are that delicious – take a minute to see these great products that will help you maintain organization and cuteness as you walk out the door.
