Behold, the power of a chambray shirt.

My hope in this post, is to help you look at your closet in a new light.

This was my maid of honor dress from my sister’s wedding coming up on three years ago. It’s a beautiful strapless Vera Wang number that probably cost more than half my closet combined. But no worries, I found a new way to wear it last Easter.

What do you have hanging in your closet that can be repurposed?

Have you tried seeing any of the dresses in your closet as a skirt? Have any you could pull of with a t-shirt and denim jacket over them?

Do you have a dress that maybe shows a little too much up top? Have you got a chambray shirt? See where I’m going here….?

Play around with what you own. Maybe nothing works out, maybe it does. Either way you are exercising the part of your brain that sees a great ruffled dress becoming a skirt.

And just maybe, you’ve had a gem of an outfit hiding in there this whole time…

(Here’s a post I did on wearing maxi dresses multiple ways).

If I would just listen to my husband and park where he parks at West Town Mall, I wouldn’t forget about this magical place that had this super cute, SUPER soft shirt for $3.

My husband swears by parking outside of Sear’s tool section.

It’s “always got a parking spot close to the door”. I find it awefully convenient that we have to walk through the tool section every single time we go to the mall. *rolls eyes, shakes head

ANYWAY, I was in there the other day and realized I hadn’t visited Rue21 in a while. They are my favorite place to go for exactly the kind of shirt I’m wearing in these pictures. One that’s really cute, and goes well with jeans and sneakers (or in this case Sperry’s I got at the Dillard’s shoe sale!). It’s perfect for walking around Market Square or Dollywood on a Saturday.

I pretty much live my life in workout clothes, so this is actually taking it up a notch from my everyday look. Which is nice to do! Especially when the top is this soft – seriously, I wish I could let you reach into your screen and feel it. Rub a baby’s butt if you’ve got one nearby – it’s the same thing (only do that if they’re your child).

The thing about Rue (we’re on a first name basis now) is they throw things on sale for a hot minute. I went back the next day to browse some more and the $3 sale was off. But you better bet that I’ll be back!

I guess it means I should park outside of the Sears tool section UGH! Don’t anyone tell him he was right! ;)

These Pieces Will Awaken Your Wardrobe

Tulips aren’t the only thing to come alive this time of year.

So many pieces in your wardrobe can rise from under the snow and dirt to bloom into something bright and beautiful. All it takes is a few key pieces to make you rethink what you own and layer in a new way!

Sounds magical, right?

Think about how a great off the shoulder checked top will make you fall in love your jeans, your white jeans and your black slacks all over again. Or how a laser-cut orange dress will make your nude pumps feel way less basic. Or how a ruffled top will breathe new life into your denim jacket/army green pants look.

A change in seasons is a fun time to mix and play with absolutely everything you own. Watch as I talk about the beautiful items Banana Republic in West Town Mall has that can really make our wardrobes come ALIVE! *majestic symphony music here.

Floral Looks that Aren’t Too Sweet

gray monroe, floral, spring looks, knoxville fashion, knoxville fashion blogger, spring fashion, mom fashion, knoxville mom blog, knoxville fashion blog, elizabeth ogle, funny fashion blog, how to wear florals

It’s spring. No exclamation point.

We’ve had spring, for going on three months. Normally I would join in the exuberant cries of joy. But since we’ve not really had a winter, I’ll just cry.

It’s crazy how little of a winter we really have had. One single barely there dusting of snow. By the way, imagine that every sentence in this post ends with the flat line face. Because that’s the face I’m making as I type.

Anyway. :-|

Here are some great floral patterened pieces. I think these floral patterns are perfect if you’re like me and you don’t like how floral can get overly sweet. Like there should be a bow somewhere on your person-sweet. I like edge and these floral patterns have a teeny tiny edge (we’re talking razor blade), and just overall aren’t super sweet.

They’re pretty and they’re from Gray Monroe, which is a fun boutique I found online through Instagram. She offers free shipping and every time I’ve ordered something I’ve gotten it within a week.

I love it because she carries a lot of different things I’m not used to seeing all the time (translation: not boho).

Click on the images to be taken to the website (or just click here already). And be sure to follow my Pinterest board for more great spring/summer looks!

And blah, blah, blah happy spring.

These bags are magic. They can make your things disappear, they can expand, one will even fit a rabbit!*

*Rabbit not included.

I’m a big believer in the fact that in order to have great style, you’ve got to be cute in all the details. Style extends to everything that represents you – especially your bags.

In my book, no one does a bag like Vera Bradley. They think of everything a woman needs and build the answers to those needs into their bags.

Check out these gorgeous travel bags and pop in to see the girls at the store in West Town Mall!

I’m adding to my accessories board in Pinterest more regularly now, so be sure to follow me there for more cute bag ideas!
