Shimmer Shine Sparkle Season

It’s 2011’s last version of Thursday!

Let’s nail this Thursday with a new nail idea…

I get excited about sparkles months in advance of their peak season (the holidays) and so in dreaming about how I was going to integrate them as much as I could in my waredrobe and on my person I thought of this…
A colorful, sparkly french manicure!…Sort of…

These were my Christmas nails, but it also works perfectly for New Years as well.

What I did was paint a color, let it dry, then take a clear sparkle polish and do a thin layer towards the end of the nail.
It’s best to go straight up and down with the brush instead of side to side, you’ll get a better look that way. After that first layer dries, take the sparkles and add a thicker layer at the very, very tip of your nail so it looks like you sort of dipped your nails in sparkles, and they just trail off towards the end.

I love love love this, and will most definitely do it again. The key is, though, to not use a heavy sparkle nail polish so you can create that fading look. Which is easy to find, because the cheaper the nail polish the less sparkle ratio you’ll have. The color is OPI Bogota Blackberry and the sparkles are from Forever21.

Happy Almost New Year!
