Emergency Crab Fork

If I were to be in a game of “Who Has The Most Random Object In Their Purse!” (it’s a working title) I would totally dominate.

Currently in my purse is a utensil for eating crab. And, believe it or not, it’s been in there for weeks. Why? Because you never know when a spontaneous clam bake might occur, and we need to be prepared!!!
No, I just haven’t taken it out yet.

It’s pretty silly having a utensil that I’m probably not going to need for a while (much to my chagrin) taking up space in my purse where I could put other things that I am going to need (like a nail file!).

On the same token, it’s just as silly for you to have your elegant evening attire sitting at the front of your closet where you can more easily access it, when it’s not often that you need to.

Make sure that the prime real estate in your closet is going to things that you’re actually going to need to access regularly.
If it’s tank tops (which I need access to all year) then make them the first thing you can grab. Same thing with your shoes, unless you’re a masochist you’re not going to wearing heels everyday so put your flats and casual shoes where you can reach them in a flash.

I even like to store my flip flops and “run out of the house to take the trash out” shoes in our coat closet near the front door that way I don’t have to go all the way to the back of the house in my closet if I ever need to run out really quick.

It’s little things like that and taking the crab fork out of your purse that really help you consolidate time and energy in life. Unless of course you live in a pineapple under the sea, in which case carry a crab fork.
