Fall Indulge

Last Thursday night West Town Mall held an event for the girls called “Fall Indulge.” There was a fashion show, a really awesome swag bag, food and fabulous vendors.

The fashion show was another great way to get inspired for fall, and featured stores from all around the mall. My favorite thing about these fall shows is that you get to see great ways to layer. Even if you can’t run out and buy every piece from the show, you can always mimic how they’ve been layered up.

I’ll be sprinkling blog posts with pics from the show, but first let’s talk about these three looks from JCPenney (which is perfect since it was right outside their doors).

The three looks JCP chose to showcase are perfect because they hit an outfit for the office, going out, and Saturday shopping.

The first look (far left) is perfect for the office. See how they belted the layers together?! That is such a genius way to pull the look together visually and cut down on bulk (making you look skinnier overall). It also breaks up the long lines of both the sweater and the skirt, which means her shape isn’t getting lost.

The middle outfit is so much fun because that leather jacket is just so cool. It also shows off a great way to wear booties and how far a printed skirt will go. Really, that bold black and white print will go with just about any other color. So stretch your closet for miles with one of those!

And finally the last look is the perfect thing to shop in. Especially as it gets cooler outside, it’s important to be able to layer up on a Saturday and this look does it so well. Plus I love wearing tights when I shop because they’re so comfortable, but still give me the visual I need when just trying on tops.

Stay tuned for more posts from the show, and while you’ve got your tuner out…tune in tomorrow to FOX43 for tips on how to switch your skin and makeup routine from summer to fall!!!

Great Sales and Outfit Inspiration (AKA: The Perfect Blog Post)

I don’t want you to go one minute this fall thinking that you don’t have anything to wear. So my plan is to load you up on everything you need when it comes to fall outfit inspiration and where to shop for it. So sit back and take it all in…

A couple weeks ago West Town Mall held their annual Back to School Fashion Show, and as the newly minted Fashion Consultant for the mall I got to get a close up look at each outfit

White House Black Market proves with both of these outfits that leather and animal print are going strong this fall. They also show how you can successfully dress for this time of year. Notice the leather peplum top is sleeveless, making it perfect to wear alone now or under jackets later.

Speaking of fabulous jackets that we’ve been drooling over…or maybe that was just in my head…the leopard jacket is gorgeous. In their store I saw them style it with a lace top peeking out at the bottom, showing how versatile the jacket can be.

Both outfits are great examples of the fact that you can look fall appropriate without sweating off your MAC off. Just stick to buying pieces like these that have the colors/textures/patterns of fall, without all the heavy material weighing you down. Pair those maroon pants with the sleeveless leather peplum top and boom – you’re cool and ready to rock.

By the way, Dillard’s at West Town Mall has put a lot of things on clearance, so be sure to go check that out!

Fall Layering Options

I’ve been not-so-quietly squealing with joy all weekend at the thought of fall being right around the corner. I may or may not have sang and danced a little when I got my first glimpse of pumpkins outside the grocery store (which may or may not have incited “you’re crazy” comments from my husband).

I know it doesn’t at all feel like fall is anywhere near our part of the world, but the great news is that doesn’t mean we have to waist our money on new summer clothes we’ll only wear for a few more weeks. Nor does it mean we have to sweat it out by immediately sporting scarves and boots. There is a happy medium, and I talk all about it in yesterday’s segment from the morning show.

All of the clothes featured are from a great local boutique called Reap the Sew. They’ve got a great selection of trendy boho pieces that will work in your closet regardless of your style! I was super excited to pick up some great colorful accessories while dropping off the clothes from the show yesterday.

These earrings and necklace (along with the necklace I talk about buying in the clip) are going to add a great little dash of color to my constant barrage of black/white/gray. I’m especially excited to work that necklace with the orange accent into a game-day look!

Leather. Rinse. Repeat.

leather

Erase whatever preconceived notion you have in your brain about leather. Unless that notion is it makes you look cool and gives your look a high fashion edge.

If that’s the case, don’t erase anything. Leave it be.

Because a “high fashion edge” is exactly what the look of leather is all about. And for the upcoming season it’s going to be everywhere – even the piping of a classic dress.

So here are four ways (all from West Town Mall a Simon Mall!) to incorporate it into your wardrobe this fall…

leather

Leather Leggings

These are literally on the top of my “must-have” list. I’ve let the thought of buying them simmer for over a year, now it’s just a matter of time till I find the right ones (these pictured are from Dillard’s, by the way). Wear them as pants, or pair them with a tunic or over-sized sweater and some black stilettos. Mmm girl. I don’t care what age you are, you’re going to look good.

Leather Piping

Ok, so maybe you’re not ready to drape your body entirely in the slick material. Go for something like this leather lined dress from Belk. It’s made by Ralph Lauren so you know you’re striking the right chord between classic and cool.

Leather Tank

Express really hit the nail on the head with this “wet look cami” as they call it. I love love love the way it drapes. The texture of it would make an all black outfit look so chic. In true Chandler fashion, “Could this top BE any cooler?!”

Leather Cardi

I’m currently in the market for a new black sweater for the fall….wait, looks like I’ve found the one. This cardigan from The Limited with the front leather detailing is going to be the bad boy of your closet. Pair it with even your sweetest, most floral-y top and it’s going to make them look oh so dangerously good.

The ABC’s of Fashion

This past Saturday, West Town Mall held a Back to School Fashion Show that resulted in a whole lot of cute pictures and tons of great fall outfits that have me so excited for fall*

*That’s an understatement.

Instead of piling all the pictures in one blog post, I’ve decided to spread them out that way you can savor them one piece at a time like a good pumpkin pie (See? Fall is on the brain).

Let’s give it up for the gorgeous track pants from Gap kids that I talked about on the show a couple weeks ago (pictured left)! And what’s even more exciting is their adult counter part was featured as well (pictured right). I love both looks! On the left even though it is a kids outfit, I think that would make a great school day outfit for any age. By pairing it with a white button down and a slouchy sweater, it hits all the right notes of comfort without going flat by looking sloppy.

track pants

If you did want to lean into the comfortable look, the model on the right does it well by pairing them with more of a structured shoe and jacket. Remember, it’s all about balance so if you’ll pair slouchy pieces with ones that have a little bit of bones to them, you’ll be able to pull off pants like these in public. Proudly.

I’d also like to take a moment to talk about that great chambray shirt dress in the picture on the right. I love those things. They can be worn so many different ways! If you’re looking for a versatile piece this fall, put that on your list. I don’t care what age you are.

I’d also like to give a shout out to some of the girls I recognized from Fashion Camp this summer! Each one of them carried themselves so well! I was so excited to recognize them and see them in their first “gig.” All I ask is that they throw me a Calvin Klein dress or two once they get famous. I’m serious about that. Size 6.
