The sun is out, so let’s put our best face forward…while completely slathered in sun screen of course.

We’re entering the time of year where we’re showing a lot of skin, so I wanted to bring you products that are going to help you feel good in that skin.

You know what would be great? If someone would pop out at will and slather me with sunscreen the instant I needed it. I have no real reason for writing that, I just thought that would be cool.

MOVING RIGHT ALONG… I took some great products from West Town Mall on the show with me last week to proves that you can get beautiful summer skin all the while being naturally protected and pampered. So check it out!

Then be sure to take a look at this post for any bag needs to have for all your cool summer trips!

2019

Well hello there,

It’s been quite the busy year already and we’re only two and a half months in.

I wanted to hop on here and post and update. I’m having a baby. Like really soon. So while I love the blog and sharing outfit ideas and product inspiration, I will be taking a short break to, you know, have a baby.

I do want to come back and share my thoughts on maternity style this time around (because it was winter so now I’ve experienced all the seasons while pregnant). And of course I will update you on her and all that she’s adding to our family.

But for now, enjoy all the packing help I’ve left you in the past couple of posts and dig even further! I’ve been writing this blog for 9 years now, so there’s PLENTY of posts to fill your cup.

Thanks so much for hanging in there and continuing to check in. I’m excited to put together blogs when I get back and continue helping you make every day a spiff day!

The One Tool You Need for an At-Home Spa Treatment

fresh kale bath company, jade roller, at home facial, knoxville beauty, shop local knox, west town mall shop, knoxville beauty blogger

I know I’ve been talking a lot about skin care on the blog recently – but there’s not a lot of clothing purchases being made around here other than for a tiny human.

I’m working on a pregnancy/maternity looks post, but until then let me give you this amazing tip on the tool you NEED right now…

Getting a facial is always on my list of things “to do one day” but if I’m totally honest – it’s never going to happen. I have a hard enough time scheduling time to go to the supermarket (God bless ClickList).

So to ease my guilt of not taking proper care of my skin in my younger years and for continuing to put off the facial – I’ve decided to spend my money on products and tools that I can use at home on the regular.

Enter: the jade roller.

Back in 2017 it was all about Derma Rollers and poking at your face with tiny needles. Basically aerating your face like you would your lawn except way more painful in a, “hurts so good,” type of feel.

I’ve since jumped off that cringe-worthy bandwagon and joined the thousands of happy, glowy people taking a cold stone to their face and rolling it back and forth. Ahhh. Feels so good.

So what does this roller do? Let me just have the Fresh Kale website describe it…

This jade facial roller can be used from your forehead to décolleté to build a younger, firmer, stronger skin. + Aid and reduce the appearance of fine lines, puffiness, and wrinkles + Increase lymphatic drainage + Exercise facial muscles, detox and tone the skin + Improve elasticity of the skin, soothe irritated sensitive skin

Doesn’t that sound awesome!? Lymphatic drainage – heck yeah! haha

It has helped my under eyes be less puffy. And boy does it feel good rolling that smooth cold stone across your face. I don’t know why – but it does. It’s like the world slows down for a minute.

Here is how I’ve worked it into my routine to simulate a facial at home…

  1. Cleanse skin
  2. Apply a mask
  3. Rinse it off
  4. Pat a good facial oil in my hands and then onto my face
  5. Use the facial roller to roll the oil around all the places of my face, while simultaneously doing all of the above up there

The tube it comes in shows you just how to use it and which direction to go to so it’s completely fool proof.

My toddler insists on trying it because, “Mommy, my skin is heavy” so if you experience the same, here’s your answer.

I’m telling you this because you need one of these and since it’s less than $35 go ahead and grab one for your friend this Valentine’s Day! Go see the ladies at Fresh Kale Bath Company for yours – located right outside of JCP in West Town Mall!

Glowing Winter Skin – Not an Oxymoron

sephora, face masks, west town mall, knoxville beauty blogger, wtm style consultant, masks, good face masks, hydrating face masks

Anyone else fervently praying for snow? CAUSE YOU KNOW I AM.

I so love winter and the lack of bugs it brings with it. I also love the lack of events. I’m such a homebody, especially after having a child, and any day I can spend entirely in my house without even getting in the car is a good day by me.

It’s also a great time to care for your skin since no makeup will be seeing the light of day.

That’s why I like to stock up on great masks and I recently spent some time in Sephora at West Town Mall getting a quick tutorial on masks and which ones are good ones…which I passed onto you in last weeks segment on Ten News This Morning.

So watch it, then go get your bread, milk, eggs and face masks!

Have Your Best Winter Skin with These Products

hydrating products, fresh kale bath company, night cream product review, knoxville shop local, west town mall, knoxville beauty blogger

Glowing skin this time of year doesn’t have to be as absurd an idea as the bikinis that are now on sale at Target. (REALLY GUYS?!)

With some extra care, some hacks and the right products, you can enjoy the winter months without itching or flaking your way through it.

I’ve got some great products in addition to a lip hack that has saved me chapped lips ALL WINTER…

Cleansers:

Every single night I take off my makeup, and while it sounds silly that a makeup remover can save your skin moisture – it really does make a difference! The wrong kind can strip your skin leaving it feeling tight and dry, but not this…

This rag is amazing. It takes off everything, everything. In fact you can dry your face with a white towel afterwards and not see any makeup on it. Not many makeup removers can accomplish that. Its also nice to know you’re not using any crazy chemicals on your face. Not to mention you can use it several times, wash then use it again so you never run out of “product.” Just be sure to rinse then hang dry.

Bonus Day Cream:

I call this bonus because I assume you’re applying a moisturizer every day with an SPF in it. If not, you need to go in time out. For ten minutes – I’ll wait.

I love a good tinted moisturizer which I’ll use by itself (sometimes mixed with a highlighter for extra spiff) or if I’m feeling dry I’ll use it as a primer. Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Gel Cream has all the words you want going on your face but also delivers MAJOR amounts of moisture. I used to have a dry forehead problem in the winter, but not any more!

It delivers the perfect amount of light coverage AND it’s only $30 for a tube that lasts me about 6 months even when I use it just about every day. I really believe this stuff will have me looking 30 well into my 80’s. Okay, maybe 60’s.

Pick yours up (they have a myriad of shades) from Anna or Sarah at Bare Minerals in West Town Mall – they’re super nice and helpful!

Night Cream:

Moisturizing as much as possible is so important for the life of your skin. Not that I claim to be a skin care expert, but I can imagine, as can you, that there’s no such thing as “too much moisture” when it comes to staving off signs of aging.

I LOVE the Silk cream made (in-house by the way) by Fresh Kale Bath Company at West Town Mall. It’s super luxurious feeling cream that soaks in quickly and leaves my skin soft well into the next morning. Plus the added benefit of being able to read and recognize every ingredient is HUGE.

Lip balm:

I love a bold lip but those matte lipsticks can dry your lips out, not to mention really highlight some dry lips. I abhor it when I go to put on a lipstick and all it does is draw attention to my dry-flaky lips. Which is why I’ve started a thing that has really saved me this winter…

I leave lip balm out on my dresser so that every time I stop – whether it’s to put away some socks, put up my hair, apply makeup or right before bed I’m slathering my lips with lip balm. Otherwise I wait till it’s an emergency and by then it’s so uncomfortable.

This habit has really saved me from having chapped lips this winter, so I would recommend you do the same. Just leave some good stuff out in a place you pass often and every time you see it – apply it!
