Ten Fingers Sparkling

One of my favorite things about this season is wishing people a, “Merry Christmas!” There’s no cheerier greeting to give in my book, and it always puts a smile on someones face!

This week, I said Merry Christmas in more than one way-ten ways to be exact, with my nails!

It was also my maiden voyage with Essie nail polish. I’ve been reading about and seeing this polish for so long I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to try it! It was a gift from a good friend of mine that sent me over the edge and sparked my Christmas nails!! :)

Essie “Leading Lady” is what you see here on all 8 fingers and it’s OPI’s “Leaf Him at the Alter” on my accent nails.

Oh what fun it is to have Christmas on your nails!

Now, if I can only decide what to do for the main event!

Ha, and I just realized that 90% of this post ends in an “!” so it must be that I’m really excited about Christmas (wait for it) !

Try saying “Merry Christmas” to every store clerk and friend you pass and watch as their face lights up and they look as if you’ve woken them out of a coma. It’s such a good thing to remind people of what time of year it is, and to pass on the hope that it will be a merry one!

Then say it with your nails! (Not in their face or anything violent, maybe just subtly give them a backwards wave ;)

Merry Christmas Everybody!!!!

Gussied Up Christmas Nails

For the next four weeks, I want you to throw out any nail agenda you already had. Take all your boring neutral polishes and throw them out the proverbial window (not the literal one).

It’s CHRISTMAS TIME, Baby! Time to bust out the sparkles!!!!

This weeks nails went quickly from “ooh I have a good idea that’s complicated and will probably end up frustrating me” to “Christmas Nails!!!”.

I wanted something simple but merry and bright :) So I went with this gorgeous red. I’m not at all a red person, I own one red thing in my closet. One. I don’t know why, I just don’t gravitate towards it. I don’t hate it when I have it but I never think to buy it.

This red color on my nails, however, is one that I’ve looked at throughout the past several days and thought, “I’m really diggin this!” It’s a bright red with red tiny sparkles inside.

It’s from the OPI James Bond collection and it’s called, “The Spy Who Loved Me”.

What I started out doing was this color and I was going to add a chevron accent nail. But I painted over my right ring finger, and seeing as how I’m a lefty there when all the prime accenting space.

I kept open my left ring finger open (for about a day too, it looked weird) and in the middle of trying to physic myself up to draw on it, I thought-GREEN! I can do one green accent nail and ring in the start of the Christmas holidays right here on my hand! (I thought it in an English accent too, it was truly festive thinking ;)

That green is by another brand entirely. It’s China Glaze and the color is, “Gussied Up Green”.

So there you have it, the start of what will be a truly awesome season made evident by my holiday nails. I plan to take full advantage of this time of year and do something uber festive on all ten fingers every week this month!

Merry Christmas Everybody!!

Under Cover Glamor

Bond. James Bond. Love that.

When I was a kid I was enamored with all things spy related. I cut my teeth on Inspector Gadget, spent my awkward years loving Maxwell Smart, and was a college girl in love with all things Bond (and not to mention Mission Impossible-of which I owned everything related to it and even convinced my parents to let me set our answering machine message with things like…”This message will self destruct in five seconds…”)

If only then OPI had come out with some kind of spy theme like they do now. Oh Lord…I would have been all over that one.

Needless to say I’m making up for lost time.

This weeks nails (which we’re taking a break from bras for one day, by the way-come back tomorrow to see how to buy them!) reflect that love of all things covert that started as a little girl and grew with me to woman hood.

And simply because you can’t use a spy color and be blatant about it-I’ve done my accent nail in “The World is Not Enough” and the rest of my fingers in “Honk if you Love OPI”.

This kind of inky dark grape and gun metal sparkle combination of fingers is definitely something you should try over the holidays, or anytime you’re feeling shaken, not stirred.
