And the Nominees are…

Being the clothing aficionado that I am, there’s not a moment I walk out the door when I don’t notice what people are wearing.
In fact, when attending an outdoor event (say, the farmers market, or a football game) I go as far as to mentally assign someone the “Best Dressed” award.

The requirements for this high honor are that they must be cute, carry the outfit well, and above all be weather appropriate.

I’m such a stickler on clothes being weather appropriate. Why? Because the absolute best accessory to any outfit is confidence, and if you can’t comfortably pull your shoulders back and walk with your head held high, it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing people won’t take notice. And on top of it all, you can’t fully enjoy yourself because you’re either freezing or burning up and really then there was no point in you walking out the door.

The nice thing about the day in age we live is that the weather report is EVERYWHERE. In the morning between 7:00 and 11:00 am you will hear the weather twice every half hour. If you do that at least one day out of the week you’ll have the 7-day forecast plenty memorized. And another thing (I thought everyone knew this by the way, but apparently not everyone does) the weather channel does “local on the 8’s” which is the local weather every time the clock hits the minute 8 (ie: 8, 18, 28,…you get the picture).

If you’re like me and you can’t remember what 60 degrees feels like, dress in layers and at some point in the day remember which layer you felt the most comfortable in outside. That will not only help you the next time it’s 60 degrees, but will also give you a building point for 50 degrees or a shedding off for 70.

Just a little planning ahead will do you a world of good, and possibly get you nominated for TheSpiff’s Mental Best Dressed Award! Who wouldn’t want that?
