The Difference Between You and They

Who do you dress for?

I’ve heard this question a lot lately and I think it’s an important one to ask yourself every so often (along with-“is my deodorant working?”)

It’s important because it helps you evaluate why you make the clothing choices you do, and sheds light on any wrong thinking (if you’re honest, that is).

Who, then, do you dress for? Other women? Men?

If your answer is anyone other than yourself, it’s wrong. You can wear expensive or cute clothing to impress other women, but you’ll end up so focused on what they might like that you’ll loose yourself and what you really like.

When I hear people say, “well that’s what they‘re wearing” in the kind of tone that says, “I don’t like it, but I guess I’ll have to wear it too” I want to shake them out of their shoes and ask who are they and why are they defining YOU!?

You can wear short, slitted, low cut, or tight clothing, but you’ll end up leading someone down a path the consequences of which you certainly don’t want to live with.

That’s why it’s important that when you put yourself together to go out, the only person you’re aiming to please is you. Buy things because you like them, not because people will be impressed or turned on.
That is the absolute best way to get comfortable in your own skin.

And you know what that leads to-confidence. And confidence impresses everyone.

I heard the best quote last night (which inspired this whole post),
“Get comfortable in your skin, that’s the most impressive thing you can do.”

That is what The Spiff is all about.
