Taking the “War” Out of Your Wardrobe (I had to use it one more time!)

These days the mail box is nothing but an invitation station.
Graduations, weddings, recitals, baby showers…and that’s just May (it’s almost quite literally one of my weekends).

The events are piling up! It’s time to start planning.

Now that you know what kind of clothes you’re looking for when you shop (reference the rest of this brilliant week on the spiff if you don’t know what I’m talking about), think about what you’ve got coming up this summer and see what you’re going to need.

Big events like weddings, aren’t spur of the moment things. You know when they’re coming months in advance and are hopefully a good guest and rsvp’ing in time. Look over your social calendar and start deciding what looks you’re going to go for.

A new dress? Some summer heels for that outdoor grad party? The time to figure out what you’re wearing to these things is now. It will save you stress and have you looking mah-velous when the event finally comes around. And if you’re anything like me, dress shopping is akin to 57 paper cuts in the crease of your hand so if you begin the hunt now it won’t be so painful.

For each social outing take a look at where it is-is it outside? Inside? Fancy? Casual? Will it be hot during that time? Get a plan together and next time you’re out shopping look in the fancy dress isle. It’s actually a good thing to do whether you have an event on the horizon or not (mostly if you don’t, because then the unwritten rule of “everything you’ve ever wanted is there and on sale” kicks in and you’ll beat the system!). Next time you see a fancy dress you like, GET. IT. And save it for your next event.

Grab a sun dress or two for those weekend bar-b-q’s that seem to pop up like zits on your weekend so you’re not caught off guard when they do.

Trust me, a little closet planning will ensure a successful season cause you’ll be chillin in your best looks all summer long.
