What this Jean Snob Thinks about Old Navy Jeans

Buy them.

Last year, I had to go out and buy new jeans for the best possible reason – I had lost some weight. My favorite jeans were fitting poorly and I was tired of looking like a Backstreet Boy so I bit the bullet and went out to buy what I thought were a cheap, throw away pair of jeans from Old Navy. (At this point if you’ve bought Old Navy jeans you’re thinking…”Ha, Oh young, naive Elizabeth. You’re so young and beautiful.”)

Forgive me, as I can’t remember how much they cost – maybe $30? No more than that, for sure as I had some Old Navy cash on hand. But I will say that whatever the cost? TOTALLY WORTH IT.

You guys, these things are amazing! They’re so comfortable, and form fitting. And did I mention comfortable? Like I can sit criss-cross apple sauce and they don’t get baggy; I can bend down ask my kid why he’s crying and they don’t show off my underwear. I can wear them with sneakers, wear them with heels and I can’t stop looking fabulous.

The unfinished hem is my favorite part because it shines a trendy light on whatever shoe I’m wearing, and they’re light weight enough to wear throughout the day without getting hot.

Oh and the dark wash is perfect because it’s dark enough to go with everything that I usually wear with black but not so dark that it makes me look too dressy.

They are, the perfect jeans.

The pair I’m wearing is their Rockstar Mid-Rise size 6. An 8 was really comfortable but a 4 was too tight so just try on one size up from what you would normally grab and see what you think. If you can buy jeans straight from a website – you are my hero.

Also, (and I just discovered this while searching out the link for you) they have never fade black jeans!!!!! YOU GUYS that’s what I NEED. (hopefully my husband won’t read this or come to the awareness that I own over 10 pairs of black pants) I NEEEED THEM.

Also, also, shout out to the Old Navy employee who saw me looking at the jeans and encouraged me to buy them. In-store feedback like that is sooooo great.

(PS: Hump Day t-shirt courtesy of Ed Rupp himself! And while I know it’s not Wednesday, I can’t think of a better alternative day to post a Hump Day t-shirt than FRIDAY, right?!)

Styling a Swingy Necklace

I love a good craving. I can go through long bouts of indecisiveness, so when a craving pops up I’m all about it. Lately I’ve had a craving for long swingy necklaces. I love how they make you feel sexy and carefree. Like you just threw it on (because you did) and yet it looks so polished.

Lately I’ve had a craving for long swingy necklaces. I love how they make you feel sexy and carefree. Like you just threw it on (because you did) and yet it looks so polished.

This necklace was the basis for this whole outfit and I’ll tell you how it came about…

I didn’t want to wear it with just a simple sweater because it still needed some sort of background beyond just one color. That’s when I decided to go shopping and I found this number. The wide army green and black stripes are the perfect backdrop for the gold, and the sheerness of the blouse meant it would work well into spring (something I start to think about this time of year).

The fact that it was only $12 at JCP was a win. I immediately knew I could always throw a scarf on over it or wear it with my leather jacket…two more ways to get use out of it and therefore solidifying my decision.

These skinny black trousers from Old Navy were a perfect fit especially when I paired them with my colored leopard heels (I love me a good pattern mix).

For the rest of my jewelry, I liked doing a black watch and then a pile of bracelets because it meant nothing got more attention than the necklace. A bold bracelet would have taken some of the spotlight.

Note: I hope you enjoyed today’s post! It was a throwback to a post I wrote last January. I’ve got big things a-brewin’ that’s taking up a lot of my time (more on that later). So I’m scaling back the blog (for just a little bit) to 3 day a week posts. This will help me refine my material and be better at bringing you the absolute spiffiest fashion and beauty finds out there! Thanks for continuing to read and have a wonderful day! :)

Can we all agree that Old Navy is killing it with the graphic tee’s lately?

I’ve seen no shortage of “Holy Chic” and “Lovely” on Instagram (unfortunately I didn’t grab the one with “Fabulous” down the middle right when I saw it – I went back to get it and they were gone *sad face).

This one I got before those other gems hit the shelves. It was on sale for $4.

I’m very picky with the wording of shirts. You are, after all, a walking billboard, so carefully choosing what you advertise is a wise thing to do. Which is why “fabulous” was going to make the cut – because, well, I am *wink.

But seriously, graphic tees are such a fun way to add diversity to your layers. Because it is like wearing a pattern. And this isn’t a animal print or stripe, so I’m doing good in my goal to buy outside that box! Yay me.

The cardigan I’m wearing is from Forever21 and cost $8. Total so far? $12. The chain necklace I also bought at Forever21 (a year or so ago), it was probably around, lets say $9. The shoes are from Target online – $11. So if you don’t count the jeans, this look only cost me around 32 bucks. Proving you can be Oo La La on a budget!

If you ever see cardigans on sale like that, stock up! They are such a great layering piece for fall!

This is going to be my next graphic tee purchase.
