Piko // Shoes // Similar Necklace

POCKETS!!!!

What is it about those two little spaces that gets us {me} so excited?

I walked around in this tunic for almost a full day until I realized it had pockets. And when I discovered them, you would have thought I had just tripped over a $20. Haha!

I can’t think of a tunic combo I want to live in more than a Piko with Pockets. It’s comfortable, it’s flattering, IT’S GOT POCKETS.

On cold mornings like we’ve been having, 100% of the time I crave a tunic. Because tights are always more comfortable (and warmer) than jeans and most pants. You can pair it with a scarf or throw a big cozy long sweater over it.

Basically it makes you feel like you’re still in pajama’s without looking crazy. I’m all for that.

The best place I’ve found to pick up Piko’s is at Fiore Boutique in West Town Mall. Across from Charming Charlies.

They have a great selection of styles and colors and run sales (which they announce on Instagram). In fact, I saw an Instagram post about this Piko tunic (which had gone on sale for just $20) and literally packed up what I was doing and headed to the mall.

So let me try something nerdy…

Piko pockets promote proper professional performance.

Ha! I warned you it was nerdy ;)

Here, if you’re craving more piko looks, see how I took this one from a day to night look…

Coats That Will Keep You Warm & Trendy

wool coat, trench coat, pea coat, rain coat, puffer jacket, performance jacket, parka, anorak, trendy coats, coat trends, coat trends for 2016, dillards, coats, west town mall, style consultant, elizabeth ogle style consultant, what coat to buy this fall, coat collection

We will, by gosh by golly, wear coats at some point this year. I will. Even if I have to sweat through it.

So through gritted teeth and large amounts of determination, I bring you a list of coats that are all updates from the classic categories…

All of these can be found in one fabulous place – Dillard’s in West Town Mall.

Fur: I like to be different. And I can’t bring myself to do a fur vest, but I could easily be swayed to do a whole jacket. This is a great twist on the vest trend and would be fun to wear dressed up or down.

Anorak: I’m sure you’re all “Anorak this” and “Anorak that” once the temps dip below 50…haha or maybe not. I just looked it up and it’s defined as a waterproof jacket with a hood. Which I’ll take in this gorgeous neutral color.

Pea coat: It’s the details in coats like these that really help you stand out. The fact that this pea coat has a slight peplum to it and some fabulous zippered pockets makes it totally your and totally 2016.

Trench: I love the fact that this trench is decked out in gold buttons. That to me makes it feel fresh and updated.

Down coat: If you’re into being warm AND sleek – this coat is for you. It’s refreshing to see a warm and what could be puffer jacket done in such a simple, quiet way.

Parka: A giant army green parka is exactly what you’re going to want to crawl into every day in January. The hardware details and fur lined hood are just enough details to make you not look like a blob.

Wool coat: I AM DROOLING OVER THIS COAT. I love the collar, the color, and the details. It even looks great open – which is hard to find sometimes. I’ll give this one a happy home. THANK YOU.

Leather: This leather jacket is under $250 and is simple and streamlined enough to stand the test of time.

Puffer: The sleekest puffer I ever did see. And all the warmth is centered on your core which will really help.

Rain coat: A leopard rain coat is like a nicely patterned piece of luggage – it will stand out in the crowd of black and make you look ultra chic.wool coat, trench coat, pea coat, rain coat, puffer jacket, performance jacket, parka, anorak, trendy coats, coat trends, coat trends for 2016, dillards, coats, west town mall, style consultant, elizabeth ogle style consultant, what coat to buy this fall, coat collection

Different Ways to Wear Your Scarves

How to wear your scarf different ways, different ways to tie your scarf, knoxville fashion blogger, knoxville beauty blogger, elizabeth ogle, style consultant, knoxville style, knoxville style consultant

After wearing a sauna suit as my costume the other day (see Intagram for details), I decided I’m not opposed to bundling up even though it’s 80 degrees outside. :-|

If I can sweat through that, I can make it through anything.

This week on the show I demonstrated a couple things with scarves. The first was how to accessorize with them…

Too often I see earrings and scarves competing for the same space on the neck, so I did my part to rectify that with a simple rule of thumb, and showed which necklace is best for wearing with an infinity scarf.

Also on this week – how to tie your scarf in just four different ways! There are so many tutorials out there that give you a number of different ways – half of which I can’t even remember.

What I show below, however, I feel is memorable and simple enough to pull off. And remember, you can always return to this spot for a refresher once it gets truly cold outside.  In fact, feel free to return to this spot every day :)

Below that segment is the Live at Five at Four spot with my baby Jackson dressed as cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation. He appears about half way through the clip, so be sure to check out him and his emotionless face on TV haha!

Why Leopard Pants Can Look Good

One of my biggest dreams in life is to have a leopard as a pet. Wouldn’t that be great?

Not only do you get kick butt protection for your house, but you also have the fabulous print walking around to gaze at. And basically a cuddly kitty.

I would name him… *I’ve stopped to seriously consider this* Willy Nilly. And we’d call him Silly Willy Nilly for short.

Until that day comes and my little Shih Tzu signs off on it, I’ll just stick with leopard pants.

I can’t say if I’ll go for another patterned pant outside of leopard print. The best way to go for a trend like this is to do it in a print you absolutely can’t get enough of. *Refer to the top of this post to gauge my love of leopard.

You would think having a pattern would make your legs look larger, but by picking the right pattern it could actually work to your advantage.

Notice how the black part of the leopard creates a slight line down the front of the leg – that is a great visual trick that gives a long lean look.

Pair any patterned pants with simple pieces. A solid shirt, especially one that dips down a bit in the back, will help bring sophistication to the look. In an ensemble like this your pants are loud enough, don’t wear things that visually compete with them.

These pants are from The Limited in West Town Mall. And gosh, are they comfortable. I’m going to try and squeeze out some more looks from them just because they’re such a super comfy/stretchy option!

Here are some more great (and comfortable) pant options (PS: the sale is back on!)

Striped Skirt and Jean Jacket

This fuchsia color makes my mouth water.

In fact, a jewel tone paired with black and white stripes is everything I love visually about life.

This top gives me everything I need for this outfit once I tuck it in and add a jacket. It would probably be too much volume paired with the skirt on its own.

This is why a jean jacket (or any jacket, really) that you love is the greatest closet staple. As is a great patterned a-line skirt! If you follow me on Instagram, you can see how I styled the skirt in warmer weather.

After a busy weekend throwing a bridal shower for one of my bestestestest friends, I was glad to have pre-prepped this outfit for Sunday morning. (Which explains why there are no fall decorations on my porch – you just wait till I have time ;)

If you get the chance, putting an outfit together ahead of time is the way to go. I love to do it so that I can have time to mull over what accessories would work. That way I’m not throwing them on as I walk out the door.

But I understand, not everyone wants to stand in their closet and play dress up like I do. But that’s why you read TheSpiff! :-D

And while all of these pieces were gathered over time (some at deep discounts) I’ve put together a list of similar things so you can shop the same pieces if you’d like…
