Shakira Said it First

Get ready, because your excuse parachute of “I don’t have time to work out” is about to be deflated…
It’s possible to burn calories “whenever, wherever”.

You can do it while you’re waiting for your food in the microwave, or while you’re waiting for the copier to heat up, or while you’re waiting for your computer to turn on. You can even do it while putting on your makeup (try to refrain when an object is near your eyes). Do squats, twists, arm curls-whatever you can do to move your body while you wait.

Really you can burn calories all day long, even if you sit a lot. A good tip I’ve heard hundreds of places is to clinch your butt muscles together and see how long you can hold it, then do it again. Another good idea I’ve heard on TV before is to be fidgety (maybe not when other people can see so you don’t appear nervous) but shake that leg under your desk-that’s burning calories.

Of course there’s always parking further away from the door or taking the stairs, really hundreds of small ways you can burn calories. One thing I do often is the free step on Wii fit. If my day fills up and I can’t get to the gym I know at least at some point I’ll be watching TV at night, and when that happens I’ll pop out the Wii board and free step while watching TV for 30 minutes to an hour.

You can even do that without having a Wii, just find something short to step up on and step up and off while timing yourself. It’s so easy! There’s no excuse for not being able to work out. Start with the little things, and then allow it to grow.

I promise you, you’ll feel so good about it after-wards!
