Let’s start a revolution of saying “thank you” to compliments.

No more “this is so old!” or “it’s the only thing I have that doesn’t make my arms look fat” no more of that. Only “thank you” and nothing more.

Say NO to reasoning someone out of their good taste, say YES to responding in the positive with a “thank you”.

It’s not going to be easy. Accepting a compliment at face value, and resisting the urge to put yourself down so that you don’t appear full of it, will be a hard habit to shake. But it’s worth it.

Responding in the negative only makes the compliment giver feel awkward and gives them no where to go in the conversation, shutting everyone down. Plus if you continually do it you will continue to discourage people from telling you nice things. And we don’t want that!

So start the revolution. Say thank you!
