Law and Order: C.L.O.S.E.T.

In the closet system, the organizers are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the cleaners, who investigate the clothes; and the writers, who bring you the information. These are their stories.

It’s one thing to write about how to clean out your closet, it’s another thing to get in there and get your hands dirty. This week, I’m bringing you a first hand account of me actually walking into my closet and cleaning it out.

1. Look in the crannies.
Pull out items that haven’t seen the light of day in a while; they’re probably things that you can’t find something to go with, or the last time you wore them you didn’t feel good about yourself.

Give them another chance. Don’t leave them tied to that one memory or feeling you had that might have been negative. You might have the golden shirt under you nose this whole time, but have been avoiding it for silly reasons. Try it on, see how you feel, go from there.

Remember, all shirts are pretty until proven ugly.
