A Simple Way to Preserve Your Favorite Jeans

As my husband can attest, I’m very particular about jeans.

I gave a friend of his what used to be my favorite pair of jeans and she raved about how great they fit her. He then went into my jean rituals and how particular I am about them. She was very grateful for that.

It pays to be peculiar particular when it comes to denim. Besides not washing them for the first 6 months, I’ve now added dry cleaning to my list of things to do to preserve them.

Dry cleaning is brilliant because it doesn’t knock the jeans around as much as a washing machine would, and it won’t fade the coloring as quickly.

After I hunted down a newer version of my favorite pair, I’m going to take every precaution to make sure these last me as long as possible. Dry cleaning them was less than $5. I would happily pay that price if it prolongs the life of my favorite skinnies in the whole wide world.

I was hoping dry cleaning would eliminate the time it takes to get them back in the shape that works so well, but unfortunately they still needed to re-form to my butt.

Now if only I wouldn’t have dumped old coffee on my lap two days after picking them up, my plan would have worked out perfectly. Oh well.

Love these for life!

This Weeks Nails

Attractive Nude?

Why thank you, I’ve been working out.

Just kidding, it’s the color of my nails this week.

A color I’ve been craving lately has been this kind of dark tan/taupe type number.
This one is by LCN.

It kind of has a gray cast to it which I like. I tried a similar version by OPI, but it had notes of green and looked a little too much like a personal bathroom problem then it did a chic fall color.

It’s one of those shades that make you look current and fresh without appearing as if you’re trying to hard to be young.

I love it because you can pair it with both gold and silver jewelry and it goes well with black and leopard.

Attractive nude. Sounds like something that works for everyone.

How to Know What Bra Coverage is Good for You

I learned a very valuable lesson on underwear after I got married. I learned it’s ok to have more than one bra, and it’s certainly ok to own more than just nude ones *gasp*.

A bra is one of (if not THE) most important things you put on, because not only does it give you (and your girls) confidence, but it also helps your clothes lay right, and does a world of good for you in years to come.

Demi Cup

I know that sometimes shopping for a bra can be confusing. There’s sizing to figure out, coverage, wire-age…a whole slew of things to deal with!(Boys, you have it so easy!)

To help, here’s a break down of the different levels of coverage and what they’re good for…

1. Demi-Cup
This is the least amount of coverage you can get in a bra. It’s good for when you have a lower cut neckline, or a square neck that might show the top of your bra.
2. Average Coverage

Average Coverage

This type is just as it sounds and is your regular bra. It’s good for smaller busted women especially. If you’re wearing average coverage bras and are spilling out of them, you need to go a level up.

3. Full Coverage
Here is that level up. It’s perfect for big busts and t-shirts! No matter your size you never want to see your bra line, and the trickiest time for this is when you’re wearing a t-shirt. Have one or two of these in your arsenal so we can see your pretty shirt and not the lines of your bra.

Remember bras are the foundation to your clothes-so have a solid foundation and you’ll look good in everything!

These bras and more info can be found here!

Oh, and HAPPY OCTOBER!! Only the greatest month EVER ;)

Lip Perfection? Not Quite.

Burt’s Bees lip balms are conspiring against me.

Can’t see it? Yeah. It’s hard to on your lips too.

I know this because after I purchase one, I’ll use it for a day then it slips away into the night never to be seen or heard from again (yes, heard).

Why is this?
The only logical reason I can come up with, is Burt’s Bees lip balms are conspiring against me.

I’ve come up with an alternate plan, and that’s to buy actual lip stick. Which I did this past Sunday when I realized the Bees lip balms had won again. I bought one I just read about by Cover Girl.

It claims to be one of those lip stick/gloss hybrids which peaked my interest as I don’t like the look of full on lipstick. I also don’t like to be seen applying an actual lip stick (so many lip stick idiosyncrasies I have, right?). I’d rather be seen applying something as casual as lip balm, but it’s got to visually pack the punch of a lightly colored gloss.

Which is exactly what my BURT’S BEES LIP BALMS DO-WHEVER YOU ARE. Ok. I’m done.

After purchasing this promising Cover Girl “LipPerfection” I thought I had nailed it. It looks like a big pencil and is called a jumbo gloss balm-how could it go wrong?

Well, for one you can take the word “gloss” out of the description because it doesn’t possess any gloss qualities. And for two, it just leaves a shimmer. I don’t want a shimmer I want a glassy-shimmer with a hint of color.

Oh and I want it to be in an applicator that doesn’t make me look high maintenance. Is that so much to ask?

I guess I’ll have to keep looking…
