Easter Outfit Inspiration

I know first hand how frustrating it can be not finding the right dress for a special event. So I want to do everything I can this week to inspire you for Easter!

Yesterday on the show I put together some looks from Dillard’s at West Town Mall. And as a special treat (and because me just holding everything up wouldn’t have nearly the same effect) I got some professional models to show off the looks!

I had such a fun time collaborating with the models and hanging out in the green room (I’ve always wanted to write that sentence)!

Watch to see how it all turned out…

Why a Maxi Skirt is so Great

If you’re in the middle of writing a romance novel, do not use any of these pictures as your book cover. I know it will be hard to resist doing so, but don’t ;)

I just wanted to show you how great a maxi skirt can be. So naturally I stood in a field full of tiny purple flowers and waited for the breeze to blow.

Consider this your Easter outfit inspiration!

The Shoes You Can Wear With Everything (and Everywhere)

Now that the weather is warm, our shoe options have exploded.

In the winter, pretty much every outfit called for boots. Tall boots, short boots. Slip your feet into some socks and the comfort of boots, and you’re all set.

Now that spring has set in, it’s more like…do I go with sandals? Flats? Heels?

Each outfit is different, but if you’re looking to buy a shoe for the warmer days that’s a little more “boot like” (aka: goes with everything and is comfortable), you need to opt for the wedge.

And not just any wedge. Lucky Brand wedges.

I bought a pair of these last summer, and my warm weather shoe world was changed forever.

They’re comfortable, just the right height and if you branch out and buy them in a fun pattern (like leopard) or a metallic color like these, they’ll go with more than you can ever imagine.

The upside of these wedges as compared to others, is they’re super light weight. So you’re not grabbing 5 pounds every time you move your foot. And the top fabric part is made of a wildly comfortable and giving fabric, so it never digs in your feet but gives you just the right amount of support as you walk.

Wedges themselves are like the off-road version of heels. You can walk through the grass with these, completely un-phased. Which in a season that’s bursting with outdoor weddings – it’s a good idea to own a pair.

I’ve started to see a lot of knock off versions of the Lucky Brand look starting to pop up, so if you go for something a little cheaper do test the fabric and see how giving it is when you take a step.

But I’m telling you, if buy them now or watch them like a hawk if they go on sale – you’ll be so happy you did.

Tune in tomorrow on FOX43 to see some beautiful Easter dress options (and how to accessorize them) from Dillard’s!

How to Wear Your Summer Dresses Now

I want to prove to you (for the third / time) just how great it is to have a white jacket for spring…

Spring Daytime Look

Over the weekend, I had another shower to attend. One that I thought started at 2 in the afternoon. It wasn’t until 9:45 that I discovered that the shower was, in fact, at 11am. And at 9:45 that morning I wasn’t driving home from a manicure and facial…I was driving home from an outdoor run. Hair was a wind-blown mess, legs were still in winter mode (ifyaknowwhatimean). I was by all accounts a mess.

Spring accessories!
But thanks to this white jacket, a sharp razor (so sharp in fact I’ve got the cut up my leg to prove it), some Oscar Blonde dry shampoo and a curling wand, I got myself together, and within 30 minutes I was back out the door and on my way to pick up the guest of honor.

What’s the lesson in all of this?
1. Don’t enter the wrong time in your phone.
2. Check it the morning of the event just to make sure (even if you think you know the time).
3. Pick your outfit out in advance so you can fly through the getting ready process if you forget to do step one and two.
:)

Thankfully I had done step three already and had already decided to wear this summer dress with my new white leather jacket. The jacket and the black booties helped to give me warmth and balance out the girlyness of the dress (not to mention they both helped to off-set my winter white skin).

Why you need a white leather jacket

If you don’t want a white one, at least consider a jean jacket or a blazer to get more mileage out of your summer clothes!

*Side note: My toes weren’t painted either (joy!) but they were going to show in my shoes. So I just did a quick swipe of Designer De’Better (OPI) on the only toes that were going to show. Pick a polish like that, that looks good with just one swipe and you’re ready to go!

What to Wear When You Want to be Comfy & Cute

Balancing comfy and cute

There’s still a chill in the air, which is perfectly perfectly fine with me.

I love the cooler spring days, because it allows me to create fresh outfits from both the winter and summer sides of my closet.

I wanted to give you another outfit idea for this time of year. One that falls in line with one of my spring rules that I wrote about last week.

This time, it’s a little more casual…

Spring outfit ideas

Like I said before, the key to a perfect spring outfit is balancing out your winter and summer-wear.

Over the weekend it was still a little chilly outside, so I knew I wanted to wear a sweater. This one shoulder slouchy gray sweater is perfect. But I didn’t want to get too hot, so I wore it over a summer maxi-dress. In doing so, I get both the visual and temperature balance.

Throw on a colorful necklace (or a swingy metallic one), some great flats and it’s the perfect for enjoying the outdoors with friends (and by outdoors I mean the patio seating at Cheesecake Factory, haha).
