Spend Less than $25 with These

You know what’s great about Christmas Hallmark movies? No matter when you turn the movie on, you can be caught up on everything that’s happening in about 30 seconds. Even if it’s the middle of the movie. The only variables are job titles and who the kid belongs to. That’s about it.

But that’s why I love them so much! Thanks to Hallmark at Christmas time, there’s always something warm and fuzzy to watch.

I turned one on the other day where the girl was achieving her dream of becoming a personal shopper. Yadda, yadda, yadda she got the guy in the end.

Now let me do a little personal shopping for you. I’ve got gift ideas and all of them are under $25 and found at the one stop shop…West Town Mall.

christmas gifts under 25, christmas gift ideas, aerie pajamas, gold leaf tray, led lights, over the knee socks, banana republic socks, forever21 bag, large black tote, beauty blender, night vision goggles, mori luggage and gifts, knoxville fashion blogger, knoxville beauty blogger, west town mall

One: String lights from Garage. Cute little LED lights your loved one can stick almost anywhere and add a little happy. It’s great for a person who notices atmosphere as these will add the perfect dash of cozy.

Two: This is a feather tray from Fiore. If you know someone decorates with gold, this would add such a glamorous touch to their home.

Three: Socks are notoriously the gift that gets the fake reaction, but these over the knee socks from Banana Republic just might elicit an actual happy face! (Keep the receipt just in case ;)

Four: Night. Vision. Goggles. What warm-blooded human being wouldn’t find these to be the coolest things on the planet?! Whoever it is that wouldn’t love them, you don’t need them in your life. Weed out the bad eggs with this present.

Five: Beauty Blender from Sephora. Change the way your friends apply makeup and clear out your mailbox for the slew of thank you cards that will ensue. Seriously.

Six: Giant tote from Forever21 is the perfect gift for someone you don’t really know. Because who doesn’t need a large tote?* (*This from someone who hoards bags like Twinkies. She thinks we will all need them someday. I don’t know what day, but one day it will happen when we all need large bags, “You’ll see!!!” – something she yells out while slowly sinking into her large bag collection).

Seven: Aerie has their pj bottoms on sale for $20. Snatch some up and earn yourself the nickname PJ McFancy Bottoms. #worthit

They’ve got a whole wall with gifts at every price point!

It’s not just for men either. I know we’re going into the cooler months where this might slow down a whole lot a little, but this store benefits a woman’s shave as well.

The wonderful thing about this brand? Their products are dedicated to prepping and protecting your skin for the closest shave possible.

My husband and I stopped in there a little while back and we got quite the education. The staff there is so knowledgeable about the whole shaving process, which really helps you get the most out of their products.

For example, the purpose of the shaving brush isn’t just to look cool (but boy does it!), it’s actually meant to lift the hair away from your skin so that you can get a closer shave. It also really helps get a good lather going with the shave cream – of which you only need a small amount. Which is another great thing about buying products there. Because they are so high in quality you don’t need to use a lot. So you may drop a little more on their shave cream, but the cost-per-use breaks down to be a lot less than what you buy at the drugstore. Plus you’re not having to run out every two weeks for more.

All of their after-shave products are alcohol free, in fact, all of their products boast ingredients that are going to benefit your skin in the long run. So whether you’re buying this for your legs, your arm pits or your man’s face, you’re going to love it now and much later.

If you’re sensitive to smell they have unscented options, but they also have scents that are so well layered and luxurious you’re going to want to climb inside the bottle and curl up for a nap.

The Art of Shaving is located left outside of JCPenney.

Watch this weeks segment to see more of what they’ve got to offer, as well as other gift ideas for the guys on your list!

Gift Ideas for the Human on Your List

The problem with putting together these gifts guides is that I get SO DISTRACTED!

I mean, I’m scouring the web for great gift ideas, how can I not click on the flashing sale signs, take a peak at the shoes, or see if a sweater or two should make it to my own list.

I’ve powered through it, though, to bring you a gaggle of gift ideas for a man or woman on your list…

brookstone gift, bluetooth keyboard, west town mall, beanie, banana republic, no resolutions hat, ugg slippers, journey's, fiore boutique, eat sign, marquee sign, yankee candle, altar'd state sign, frames, pottery barn, picture frames, gift ideas, gift ideas for guys, gift ideas for family members, gift ideas for people you don't know very wellOne: It’s a keyboard projector. If some small part of you doesn’t want to try this, then you need to stop reading this blog. Seriously though, how great of a gift is this for the person who’s always typing on the go…in random places. Get it at Brookstone across from The Limited.

Two: Yankee Candle will let you customize a candle with a personal photo! Talk about thoughtful!

Three: “The mountains are calling” sign for anyone you know who likes to hike. If you get it for someone like me, you’ll get a blank stare followed by, “tell them I’m not home.” Altar’d State outside of women’s Belk has a great load of home signs.

Four: For the guy/girl who has “no resolutions.” Give them a chance to really commit to it and wear it on their head with this cute beanie from Banana Republic. It’s a banana beanie. (Banana Rep is right across from the Apple store down the Sears hallway).

Five: Tell your friend what to do – “Eat!” with this cute marquee sign from Fiore Boutique. This is an easy get as they’re right inside the door of the Charming Charlies entrance.

Six: Ugg slippers. Do I really need to sell you on these? #oneformeoneforyou

Seven: Who doesn’t love a picture of their kid/dog/elbow? Print a picture of your friend’s greatest love (maybe their a real narcissist) and stick it in a beautiful Pottery Barn frame. You can’t go wrong. Well, unless you take the elbow thing seriously, then you’ve gone way wrong.

Planning Your Christmas List

Don’t hate me, start a social media campaign against me, black list me or boycott me because I’m talking about Christmas before the turkey’s even in the oven. In order to plan for anything you’ve got to start early. So that’s what we’re doing.

My husband already has the list of what he wants for Christmas ready to go. Me? Well it typically takes weeks of thought, reading reviews, tracking down the cheapest option, looking at it in the store, consulting four other people and then I put out a list, after which I fret over whether or not I’ve asked for everything I need.

And when it comes to buying gifts for people? It usually ends up being something we cram into one day. And each and every year I think it’s going to be some magical experience where my husband and I hold hands and skip through store isles, when really it’s more like a cranky, mad-house mess where we’re silent 90% of the time because someone pissed the other off.

Let’s avoid all of that, shall we?

Every year I make tweaks to my process to try and make it easier on myself for both making a list and buying for others. So here’s my list of tweaks…

how to make a good christmas list, christmas list making, how to buy for who's on your list, how to buy chrismas presents, christmas list making, chrismtas time, how to buy gifts

1. Start early.

Write down the list of people you have to buy for, and just make a point to get something for someone every time you’re at a store starting this week. That will give you a good chance of getting almost everything on sale, because if you spread the buying out you won’t be forced into a corner and have to pay full price because you’re out of time.

Then make another list on your phone of things you realize you need/want but don’t want to buy yourself. That way you’ll avoid that blank emptiness that fills your brain the second you sit down to make a list.

2. Go for variety.

If you’ve got people on your list you don’t know very well, I say buy a little basket and get them a little variety of things they could use in their house, on their face. Places like Bath and Body are always running sales on multiple soaps – which are always good to have on hand for last minute gifts as well. And Sephora starts putting out great Christmas gift collections right now that you could always buy and break up into multiple gifts.

As for yourself, make it so that your list covers a range of things you need. If you only put makeup on there, chances are the guys that are buying for you aren’t going to want to step foot in a makeup store, so maybe add some house items as well.

3. There’s an App for it. Of course.

Gifster is a great app for gift-giving. It allows you to add links, share with others and even “reserve” a gift so that the other people using it know that gift is being purchased. The person who made the list can’t see something’s reserved, though so don’t be like my husband and try to figure it all out before Christmas.

And finally, always keep an eye on TheSpiff.com because I’ll be featuring great gift ideas for both men and women all throughout the coming months.

Do you have any gift giving/list making ideas that you use every year? If you do, share them below because I’m always looking for ways to tweak my process!!
