Breaking Out of the “Black” Box

In our quest to continue to take the “War” out of your “Wardrobe” (I’m in love with taking words out of words, so I’m going to ride that wave of brilliance I had all week :) )

It’s time we look at our color routines. Do you buy a lot of the same one? Say….black and white? Blue?

Today I have broken out of the “black” box and am wearing brown. One of exactly two shirts I have that are brown (actually the other has only the tiniest bit of brown around the edges) and I haven’t thrown up yet, so that’s a start.

What about you? Do you have a lot of stripes? Animal print?

Contrary to my closet-other patterns do exist. And I plan on buying some fresh ones this season.

The point is, look at your most worn items and see what you could do to liven that group up. If you do wear a lot of stripes, find new patterns with those same colors and wear them together! It’s how the pattern mixing is done and I think it looks so fresh.

If you don’t want to break out of your stripes and animal print box (I use those because they’re the most popular right now), then mix them together!

Right now I’m wearing brown and white stripes, with a leopard bracelet and shoes. Why? Because leopard goes with EVERYTHING!!

Mixing patterns you already own will get you excited about new ones, so start there and then get some fresh ones and mix some more! And try a new color this spring. Like yellow! I’ve fallen in love with yellow and before spring I owned none of it, and now that I have it in small doses, it’s livened up some old tops.

Arm yourself with fresh colors and patterns and you’ll take the war out of your wardrobe! (Yep, all week I’ll be riding that wave…)
