Accessory to a Crime of Fashion

Accessories help to draw the eye to one specific spot on your person and the more you’ve got going on, the more places the eye has to look and get confused.

If you want to break out a bold statment necklace, then let it do all the talking and don’t introduce earrings to the chatter.  You don’t want people having to look all over your jewelry before they can find your face.  Along those same lines, if your earrings are larger than diamond studs let them be the stars of the show.

Several years ago we saw a lot of heavy chandelier earrings as the go-to accessory, but now (and our ear lobes say, “Praise God!”) necklaces have started making the statements.  Layered necklaces are always a pretty look and is one that can be easily achieved by remembering the “b” word, “balance!”  In the picture to the left she has on layered gold necklaces.  This look works so well because she has balanced an airy gold chain that loops around her neck with a heavier chain that lays in a line down her torso, both of which are pulled together (both in look and length) by the medium beaded chain that hangs just past the top of her shirt.

If you don’t already have necklaces you can layer, go shopping and try the layering technique with other necklaces in the store.
