Dressing for Future You

-Buy for the size that you are, not what you want to be. (Amen!)

I’ve heard the question a lot, “should I buy for the size I am now, or the size that I want to be?”

Buy for the size that you are.  Even if you are on a diet and working out everday all day in an effor to loose weight, you just never know when it’s going to drop off so the safest bet is buy for the size you are now.

If you do buy for the weight you want to be, and let’s say you reach that weight in 3 months, who’s to say you’re still going to want to wear what you bought? Or what if it doesn’t necessarly flatter your new shape? Plus, you’re not going to drop 100 pounds in a month-that’s just not healthy! So the things that you buy now will last a lot longer than you think, and even if you do loose a significant amount of weight-there are so many chic belts out there right now you’ll have so many options even still!

There’s just too many risk factors. Now, if it’s really cute and on clearance on top of clearance then maybe consider it (I did that once with a peice of furniture and saved it for years and years and years for when I moved out into my own place, and guess what I never used it). Just be hyper critical when you start to consider something like that. If you have found a classic piece that is a good deal and you can look at it and KNOW that you’ll wear it for now until death do you part, then you should consider it. Especially if you can get it on, just not button it-that would be a great incentive to keep working hard! I would not consider it at all, however, if you can’t even get it on yet. Don’t worry there will be more sales!

If there is something hanging around in your closet right now that you’re saving for a skinny day, you might want to consider adopting it out. There are plenty of people out there, I’m sure, that would be happy to give it a loving home. (What a great idea!)
