Take Your Hair Out for Some Coffee

We ventured away from theme weeks for a spell, but now there back and this week it’s all about our hair!

A woman’s hair is like a good relationship-it’s both the most frustrating and rewarding thing in the entire world. But with a few simple steps you can have a more often rewarding relationship with your mane.

Let’s dig in…

Get to know your hair. Get to know what it can and can’t do, this will take the frustration out of those times when it doesn’t cooperate with you because you’ll know going into it what your hair is capable of.

If you have to, take an entire night to try different styles, or keep a photographic journal of how your hair turned out after trying certain things, including what it looks like the day after you tried a different style because sometimes it turns out better after you’ve let it relax.

Also, once you know these things don’t set yourself up for frustration by expecting your hair to do something you know it can’t.  For example: if you’re hair gets frizzy and curly in humdity, check the weather. Don’t stand there with a flat iron while it’s thundering outside. All that will do is set you up for stress!

I know you’re thinking, “I’ve had my hair for quite sometime, I think I know what it’s capable of” Good! Then try something new-or try a variation on what you already do. If I let my hair air dry it turns out wavy, but in the past several years I’ve discovered more ways to get it to turn out even better that way-like not brushing it at all after I wash it. Little experiments like that can save you bigger headaches down the road, and could even get your hair exactly where you want it to be-every time you do it!

“Hair style is the final tip-off whether or not a woman really knows herself.” ~Hubert de Givenchy, Vogue, July 1985
