These are the very shoes I was wearing when I discovered that Chick-Fil-A light lemonade tasted just like their regular lemonade. That was a life-changing moment.

Good thing I had on great shoes.

I’ve had my eye on these types of sneakers for over a year now. It wasn’t until Target came out with a cheaper pair that I decided to try them out, and if I liked them I’d buy the real thing.

Turns out I don’t like them – I love them.

They are exactly what I’ve been looking for to give my running around outfits the cute yet comfortable edge I’ve been needing. This pair from Target only cost around $14, but I’ve tracked down an affordable Ked’s option for around $30.

And these shoes can go a lot farther than I originally bargained for. Here’s a Pinterest collage of all the different ways you can wear them. Jennifer Aniston sports her’s with a blazer! You’ll notice they can almost fluidly take the place of heels or wedges in unexpected yet wildly comfortable ways…

They’re really perfect for boyfriend-jeans and will make me look so cute and keep my pregnant feet comfortable this summer. Go get your own pair, cause you’re not borrowing mine!

A Clever Trick for Your Spring Dresses

This is going to sound like something one would say before breaking out into song, but I promise there will be no singing afterwards…

Inspiration is all around us.

Particularly outfit inspiration. I am on constant watch to see how people are wearing things, so that I can tweak my own style, or add something new I may have never thought about.

While attending my 6th wedding shower of the season last weekend (it’s my own version of 27 Dresses), I obtained some major inspiration from my good friend Alicia.

Cleverly, she took one of her infinity scarves and used it as a wrap!

Let me tell you why this works on so many levels…

It keeps you warm in a comfortable way. Unlike a wrap, a larger infinity scarf like this will more easily stay in place because it’s looped around your arms rather than hanging on them (I’m sure there’s some term from physics that tells us why, but I can’t even come up with a fake one so forget it).

This also helps to reduce the amount of skin you’re showing if you’ve got say, an open back dress, or even a strapless one you may want to wear without baring it all.

I love the fresh color choice of teal against the black and white, and I especially love the fact that she did some pattern mixing by topping off the look with peacock patterned earrings.

It goes to show you, not all outfit inspiration has to come from Pinterest ;)

The Shoes You Can Wear With Everything (and Everywhere)

Now that the weather is warm, our shoe options have exploded.

In the winter, pretty much every outfit called for boots. Tall boots, short boots. Slip your feet into some socks and the comfort of boots, and you’re all set.

Now that spring has set in, it’s more like…do I go with sandals? Flats? Heels?

Each outfit is different, but if you’re looking to buy a shoe for the warmer days that’s a little more “boot like” (aka: goes with everything and is comfortable), you need to opt for the wedge.

And not just any wedge. Lucky Brand wedges.

I bought a pair of these last summer, and my warm weather shoe world was changed forever.

They’re comfortable, just the right height and if you branch out and buy them in a fun pattern (like leopard) or a metallic color like these, they’ll go with more than you can ever imagine.

The upside of these wedges as compared to others, is they’re super light weight. So you’re not grabbing 5 pounds every time you move your foot. And the top fabric part is made of a wildly comfortable and giving fabric, so it never digs in your feet but gives you just the right amount of support as you walk.

Wedges themselves are like the off-road version of heels. You can walk through the grass with these, completely un-phased. Which in a season that’s bursting with outdoor weddings – it’s a good idea to own a pair.

I’ve started to see a lot of knock off versions of the Lucky Brand look starting to pop up, so if you go for something a little cheaper do test the fabric and see how giving it is when you take a step.

But I’m telling you, if buy them now or watch them like a hawk if they go on sale – you’ll be so happy you did.

Let Me Help You Shop for an Easter Dress

There is certainly NO shortage of options when it comes to dresses this time of year.

But that doesn’t mean we’ve all found the perfect one that looks good and fits the way we’d like it to.

That’s where I come into play. Let me help you find (or at least narrow down) your options for an Easter dress (or a dress for any other occasion this time of year).

Click here to see three dress options and what body parts they flatter.

Think of me as the white-haired eharmony dude, but I’m pairing women with dresses instead of men.

I don’t know why you need to think of me as that, I’m pretty sure you got the point before that sentence.

Bonus dress!
This is a fourth option that would flatter your figure if you’re straight up and down. These little layers give you volume, and therefore curves. Go for something like this if you’re tired of the peplum trend!

How to Wear Your Summer Dresses Now

I want to prove to you (for the third / time) just how great it is to have a white jacket for spring…

Spring Daytime Look

Over the weekend, I had another shower to attend. One that I thought started at 2 in the afternoon. It wasn’t until 9:45 that I discovered that the shower was, in fact, at 11am. And at 9:45 that morning I wasn’t driving home from a manicure and facial…I was driving home from an outdoor run. Hair was a wind-blown mess, legs were still in winter mode (ifyaknowwhatimean). I was by all accounts a mess.

Spring accessories!
But thanks to this white jacket, a sharp razor (so sharp in fact I’ve got the cut up my leg to prove it), some Oscar Blonde dry shampoo and a curling wand, I got myself together, and within 30 minutes I was back out the door and on my way to pick up the guest of honor.

What’s the lesson in all of this?
1. Don’t enter the wrong time in your phone.
2. Check it the morning of the event just to make sure (even if you think you know the time).
3. Pick your outfit out in advance so you can fly through the getting ready process if you forget to do step one and two.
:)

Thankfully I had done step three already and had already decided to wear this summer dress with my new white leather jacket. The jacket and the black booties helped to give me warmth and balance out the girlyness of the dress (not to mention they both helped to off-set my winter white skin).

Why you need a white leather jacket

If you don’t want a white one, at least consider a jean jacket or a blazer to get more mileage out of your summer clothes!

*Side note: My toes weren’t painted either (joy!) but they were going to show in my shoes. So I just did a quick swipe of Designer De’Better (OPI) on the only toes that were going to show. Pick a polish like that, that looks good with just one swipe and you’re ready to go!
