What I Didn’t get to: Spring Scarves

Panic set in the first time I ever heard how long a book report had to be. I remember being in high school and wondering how in the world I was going to fill a full three to four minutes!?

Little did I know, three to four minutes on a topic you love and have actually read about-feels like seconds, really. Unfortunately the converse is painfully true. Three to four minutes on something you haven’t done your homework on? Mega sales go faster than that.

This is how I feel on Tuesday mornings when The Spiff is live on FOX. There are weeks when the segment seems to be endless, but then there’s other weeks, like this past one, when I feel as if I can’t fit all the good stuff in!

The good part about being short on time, is anything I can’t fit into the segment I can write about here. The Spiff is where I’m the boss of how long I take and I say, “Go as long (or as short) as you want, girl.”

Thank you! I will!

Spring scarves are what I didn’t get to this past Tuesday, so lets talk about how great spring scarves are.

First, let’s classify a springy scarf.
The number one classification for a scarf to be springy is the fabric. If the fabric is light and breezy  then no matter the color, it’s a good spring scarf. My polka dot scarf is a good example of this. It’s black and white, but it’s a light fabric so that makes it perfect for spring.

Now, if it is actually cold outside, and you need a scarf that is a little bit warmer then you’ll want to go for one in a heavier fabric, but with lighter colors. Look for floral patterns or just a fun happy pattern that doesn’t translate-barren middle of winter.

Be aware of the visual weight.
If you are packin’ some major boobage, stay away from bulky scarves. If you’re trying to down play boobs, don’t be adding a voluminous scarf to that area. Go with one that’s lighter and skinnier (like the one pictured). This will give your neck some warmth and your look a lot of the cool factor without over taking your figure.

And as usual the reverse is true as well. If you’re looking to add to your girly girls, a big ole’ poofy scarf will help you do just that.

Listen, I’m your girl when it comes to integrating winter clothing into wardrobes for as long as humanly possible :)

Happy Spring dressing everybody!

Organize, then Celebrate with Cheesecake

Parking at the mall is like cutting open the plastic of a new toy.

You can’t wait to get inside, but you’ve got to get through a lot before you do.
(That works, right? Oh, how I long to be so clever with those types of comparisons).

Parking at the mall becomes worse when there’s a giant construction zone blocking your favorite entrance. But you know what? I’m ok with it. I’m ok with not being able to park and run into Forever21. I’m ok with having to walk waaay out of my way just to get into my favorite store. A store that I could probably walk to from my house faster than it takes me to find a parking space.

Why am I so chill about it? Because of why they’ve made that entrance a construction zone.
Cheesecake Factory.
Yes. I’ll walk through mud if I have to.

With Cheesecake Factory to cross off the list of dream places to have here in town, it’s becoming a very slim list indeed. Ikea, you’re next.

This past summer I revolutionized how I store my scarves thanks to Ikea: the massive, Swedish meatball (let’s not talk about the horses) selling chain store that’s so cleverly filled to the brim with cheap home accessories.

It’s the world’s greatest place to buy Christmas presents (among thousands of other things). The only “problem” is there’s a lot of, “One for you, one for me” that goes on (I use “problem” in the-non budget friendly sense.)

This scarf organizer, for example, was a BOFY GOFY (instead of BOGO it’s buy one for you, get one for me :) It makes a great present and is THE perfect way to hang and store my scarves!

Now, not only can I see them all but they also stay wrinkle free and are no longer weighing down my little hutch next to the front door.

If you’re not able to make the occasional trek to an Ikea, check Home Goods, or Marshalls, and also you can get one similar here on Amazon.

Gather your scarves, get them out of the drawer/balled up fetile position, and let them hang out on display! You’ll be happy, they’ll be happy-sounds like a good reason to celebrate with a meal at the Cheesecak…wait it’s not finished yet.

Soon!

Spring, Allow Me to Introduce You to Scarves

It’s no secret what a fall/winter lover I am.
That love stems from my deep adoration for clothing, and how during those months we get to pile on more of it :)

One such accessory I would wear all year, if I could, are scarves.

I love the way they look-thrown on last minute, but totally cute and comfy. Thank God on High, that someone somewhere has deemed them spring appropriate and passed that idea on to clothing lines so that we can all join the movement to wear them even longer.

Spring scarves are even more wonderful in that they’re usually of a light weight material and color, which gives the wearer a kind of indecipherable I-just-threw-this-on-but-I-look-so-chill kind of look.

Take this one from The Limited, for example. It’s got the perfect spring pattern that’s just waiting to be mixed with another pattern like stripes, or better yet, big green or navy polka dots. Oh yes, that would look so good!

And there are several colors in it, which means you can pair it with many tops, giving you a variety of comfy options!

Ahh. Scarves. Love them.

Ha, now I’ve gotten myself all pumped up…I’ve gotta go shopping!

Spiff Splash

Time for a Spiff Splash about scarves (Spiff Splash is when I just throw a lot of really awesome information at you in short sentences)…

1. Scarves make great presents!!! What’s great is that you don’t have to completely be in tune with your friends style, just pick out one in a color or pattern you’ve seen them wear before and you have the perfect personalized little present that they’ll love!

2. Scarves are also great decor. Some of my favorites hang next to my front door in my little cubby. And let me tell you, when I’m wearing one the wall looks so empty! Pick your favorites and display them with pride!

3. A full scarf can also be used as a wrap. Need a shaw? Use a scarf!

4. During the months you’re not wearing them, wipe away the tears in your eyes, roll them up and store them in a tubberwear!

5. Buy a scarf in your favorite team color (*ehhem* how about UT Orange!) add it to any outfit and you’re instantly part of the fan base but still looking cute in whatever you want to wear underneath.

Ok, our necks should be awfully cozy this winter!
Have a happy weekend!!
