The Prediction I Made Come True

The first sentence of this blog from back in 2010, proves something.
It proves that you’ve come to the right place to hear beauty news first.
Because now these twist bands are all over the place. I wrote this post on July 29, 2010.

I called it way back then that these things would hit it big.
I don’t know how to get you more proof that I have my finger on the pulse of the beauty world.

Tell your friends, you heard it here first.

There’s a new product on the market that will help keep your hair off your neck in the day time heat, and keep it kink free in the night time cool.

It’s the Twist Band!

twist bandReally it’s the best of both the elastic world and the scrunchi world, and a whole lot cuter.

It not only holds your hair in place (from what I read I have yet to get my hands on one), but also when you take it out there’s no “I’ve had my hair in a pony tail all day” indention! How great is that, I ask you!?

Plus, I am all about having an interesting way to have your hair in a pony tail and I think this does the trick because it looks like you’ve wrapped it around your hair and tied it in a knot.

Plus PLUS if you keep one on your wrist in case of emergencies, it looks super chic.

And I promise you they’re not paying me to write this (if anyone at twist band WOULD like to pay me I accept cash, check, forever21 gift cards :)

I think they’re great, and while they’re not yet available in our town they are available online here thetwistband.com

Seriously, tell your friends about it and for 30 seconds bask in the glory of knowing something before they did, then stop basking and tell them you read it on the spiff.com!

8 Items my Purse Can’t Live Without

I love writing blogs, but if I didn’t have to include pictures I’d be totally ok with that. Pictures aren’t on the list of my favorite things in life, but they’re a little bit of a necessity in this business.

I’m including this blog as one of my favorite from the year because I’m particularly proud of the picture. So stare at it. Memorize it. Appreciate it. Enjoy!

My husband makes fun of me, because I’m very meticulous about new things.

When I got a new desk, I made sure to carefully go over everything that was going inside of it, even to the point where the desk sat there for days until I had the time to set things in it right.

The same is true with purses. When I get a new purse, everything going in it has to be new/clean and organized. It’s like having a brand new backpack with old pencils…no where near as fun!

Here are 8 items that always go in my bag (either clean or brand SPAKIN new!)

things for your purse

1. Cell Phone
The clean rule applies to phones. Can’t have a new phone in an old case! This cutie of a case came from J. Crew for a steal at $4! It’s the perfect leopard print and made of a rubbery material to protect what has become for us all, a right arm.

2. MAC Makeup
Even though I’ve converted my foundation purchases over to Bare Minerals, I still like MAC and like the security of knowing I have a compact close at hand for those times I have a facial emergency (and by that I mean, messy burger all over my face).

3. Pilot Acroball Pen
I keep all my favorite pens in my purse. Because it’s great to have them at a moments notice. But they do go in the zippered portion, just in case a pen is housed unclosed-no one will notice the marks.

4. Tide To Go
Two words: my husband.

5. Burt’s Bees
Pink Blossom Tinted Lip Balm: I don’t leave home without it., my lips wouldn’t stand for it.

6. Hand Sanitizer
This comes in handy not only when you’re sitting down to eat and realize you’ve touched every door handle and toilet seat east of the Mississippi (just kidding about the toilet seat), but it also comes in handy as a scent refresher. I can’t tell you how many times people have complimented how I smell after using one of these. And yes, that’s a pumpkin you see. Bath and Body’s fall line is out, and I was ready for fall yesterday.

7. Trident White
Gum is another good “scent refresher” *ifyaknowwhatimean. It’s also a great little hunger hold over-keeping me happy even without the calories of a Snickers ;)

8. Business Card Holder
This chic little holder was given to me as a gift. I love it in those moments when I’m in a meeting and asked for my card. It’s so empowering to pull one out of a good looking holder like thie one. I also love it for clutch purses. It holds my license and credit cards in a compact space which is exactly what I have in a clutch.

One of the Best This Weeks Nails

Choosing just one favorite nail color from the year would be impossible. If you’ve ever read one of my “this weeks nails” posts, you’ll quickly see I pick a new favorite nail color of the year…every week.

I do, however, truly love both these colors, the picture, and how I wrote this post so it’s definitely one of my favorites!

I’m only going to admit this once, so pay attention.

There was a time when I didn’t know what Tiffany blue was. Oddly enough the boy I was dating knew exactly what color it was, but I hadn’t a clue!
How I could call myself a woman at that time, is beyond me. And if right now you’re thinking, “Oh gosh, I don’t know what it is either!” No judgment here, my friends. Don’t say anything and in a second when you see my nails, just say out loud, “Boy I’m tired of that old Tiffany blue” and everyone will think you’re so glamorous :)

Seriously though, I believe it was 2006 that the boy I was dating at the time gave me a clue as to what my Christmas present was going to be and the clue was, “It comes in something blue.” That Christmas I got both my first piece of Tiffany jewelry and an education in the finer things in life-I’m eternally grateful for both.

My nails this week remind me of that time. It’s Maybelline Color Show’s “Green with Envy” with an accent nail of OPI’s “Designer De Better”. Both go in my top 10 of favorite nail colors from this past year and have provided a bright happy nail pallet this week. It was nice to change out of something dark for a little while.

I decided to add another dimension (or rather take one away) by putting Essie’s Mattifier over the blue. Some colors are perfect both shiny and flat and this is one of those colors. I like to do this every once in a while because it switches things up and breathes new life into old looks.

It’s nice to look down at my nails, smile at the color and think of the boy that gave me that necklace and eventually those two diamond rings on that accented finger :)
