Warm up the cookies,
chill the eggnog,
and tell the cousins Santa is hookin up the reindeer
(are you serious, Clark?).
Christmas is almost here!
As we celebrate Jesus’ birthday by opening presents ourselves,
one thing to keep in mind going in to this whole thing is that it’s more blessed to give than to receive.
Get excited about what it is you’re giving on Sunday rather than all the things you think you’re going to get.
This makes it wildly more fun!
Focusing on what you’re going to get just breeds discontentment when your list isn’t all checked off and that’s not the kind of things that should be brewing on Christmas day.
And remember, when you do open something and it’s not the right color/size/pleat keep it to yourself.
Give the gift giver a moment to shine and thank them for their thoughtfulness.
I know we hear this every year, and because we do so often it’s easy to not really hear it, but Christmas isn’t all about what we get. It’s about loving because God sent the ultimate love gift down for us.
Take the focus off yourself, and follow His example by giving love away to others.
Have the Merriest of Christmas’!
