I Love Lucy-I Really Do

I always remember where I am when the Fall issue of Lucky magazine comes in.
It’s quite honestly the moment I look forward to all year, because it means we’re on the cusp of the greatest season ever.

It was my glimmer of sunshine in last week’s mayhem, and will probably stay in its plastic wrapping for a little while just so I can savor the moment and really build up my appetite for pouring through it’s every page.

When it comes time for them to ask me to do the cover shoot, I’ve already got my style icon picked out.

I love Lucy. In every sense of the phrase. I grew up watching her crazy antics on Nick-at-Nite (remember when it used to play good shows?) and I fell in love with the way she dressed. Every episode she gets dressed up is my favorite, because every fancy dress of hers could exist in my closet no problem. Her taste is timeless, everything she wore was beautiful back then and would still be considered gorgeous today. I love that.

And I love how she wore the most beautiful things while making people laugh. I think that’s my favorite thing about her, she looked good while not taking herself too seriously (ie-this dress to the left is one of my favorite-and in it she set her plastic nose on fire). She was always to perfectly put together, but never acted like it, even in real life.

I think that’s the difference between you wearing an outfit, and an outfit wearing you. If you can’t function normally in something beautiful then it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing, you won’t look good. But if you function gracefully no matter what you have on, then anything you wear will look good.

One day (probably the day after my Lucky photo shoot) I’m going to purchase one of those dresses and enshrine it (after I wear it to the Lucky ball they’ll throw in my honor).
