Your Year

Don’t judge me.
Getting back into the swing of things is a little bit harder than I anticipated.
Case and point: my house still looks like it’s the middle of December (which I’m good with for the time being).

Moving on…it’s time to do just that.
Time to decide what you want your image goals to be this year.
What do you want to change about your wardrobe?
What do you want to improve on?

One thing I’m changing is part of my mental process.
When I get dressed there are so many factors that go into choosing an outfit.

Here are just some of the things (in order of when I think them) that pass through my head when I’m choosing an outfit…

1. What’s the weather going to be like?
2. Who’s going to be there?
3. What does my level of comfort need to be?
4. What look do I feel like going with?

There are (believe it or not) more things that I filter my looks through, but those are the main ones.
My goal this year is to raise #4 to the top (right under the weather, because to me the weather plays a big role).

I scream this all the time, so I need to stop and listen to myself, but truly the best looks come when you’re comfortable in them. You can exude confidence the most when you like what you’re wearing.

Looking at old pictures over the holidays, I thought more than once…WHAT was I thinking, wearing THAT! But you know what, while it looks crazy now, at the time I know I was completely happy with what I was wearing because back then my one and only filter was “What look do I feel like going with?”

I was the only one I was trying to please.

The scripture our church is standing on for the year is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” That is the verse I’m applying to every area of my life this year, including my clothes and looks.

Whatever goal I set, however I want to look, I can do it. Same goes for you, you want to loose weight? You can do it. You want to love yourself? You can do it-through Christ.

Who better to rely on for a stronger self confidence than the One who created you in the first place!

It’s going to be our best year yet :)
