Writers Nails

There’s an almost literal “click” when you find something that completely embodies your taste. Like a switch that flips in your head, turning off all your usual excuses why you wouldn’t like something.

That’s me this week with my nails. A good friend passed along a new and exploding (not literally) nail technique and I’ve got to say I just can’t get enough.

It’s so, so, so easy!
All you do is paint your nails a very light color. I started with stark white, but that’s not my taste so I went out and bought OPI’s “Funny Bunny” which is a softer less intrusive white.

Paint your nails completely (don’t take any short cuts because they will show through) and let them dry.

Then pour a little rubbing alcohol into the cap of the bottle and dip your finger completely in the alcohol and while it’s dripping wet, take newspaper and press it across your nail.
Now when I first did this I did it very late at night and went the lazy route, not bothering to take the newspaper out of the stack it was in. That’s not going to work unless you want varied imprints that don’t go across your whole nail.

The best way to do it is to tear out places where there is a lot of wording because that will make it easier for your to really press it across your whole nail.

The last step is to seal it with a top coat. I tried skipping this step (again taking the lazy way out) but you can’t because the print will wear off very quickly.

The final product has kept me smiling all week (especially when I see little tiny punctuation on my pinky nail!) and it will you too!
