Just when I thought I had reached my fill of stripes, I find that Forever 21 has become the mecca of all things striped.

Since then, I’ve made my peace with the pattern, and we’re back to being friends.

One thing I have decided is I’m going to give different colors of stripes a chance. Neon yellow and gray, for example, are not the normal black and white I gravitate towards but it’s still the boldness I love about stripes, but brings a different element that I desperately need to keep things fresh.

Just make sure you pair it with the neutral color that is not the neon stripe, like grays or blacks. And that everything else you have on is demur because you don’t want neon, neon, neon or that will read “SALE” or “Jersey Shore!” Neither of which you want to embody.

Also, stay away from neon zebra stripes as best you can because it reads “tween” on some people. And being in the business world but also loving fashion, I can tell you it’s important to be taken seriously by people who don’t understand fashion so just be careful what you put out there.
