Couch Potato to 5k

Today’s Spiffy little title isn’t the usual whit and genius that comes from my brain, it’s an actual title to a podcast.

This past year I had a goal to reach: running a mile. Simple, right? Not so much..but I reached it.

And….then…my tennis shoes broke and I fell off the running map.

A friend of mine told me about this podcast and it got my feet to moving.
It’s basically a personal trainer in your ear.
You download the podcast, get your butt on the treadmill and they start training you for a 5k. You start off running in 60 second intervals (which goes fast when you’re not watching the clock-they tell you when to start and stop)with plenty of rest in between and go from there (doing it three days a week you’ll be running a 5k in 9 weeks).

I’ve always wanted someone to push me, because it’s hard sometimes pushing yourself. And this is the perfect solution. No other person to try and coincide schedules with, no expensive gym personal trainer fees, just you, and the road and your headphones.

No excuses, get off of the couch!

Ps: There are several versions on itunes the one I downloaded is actually called “couch to 5k” and includes a woman with a British accent speaking in your ear which to me is wildly more entertaining.
