Action Jackson III

It’s party time.

The thing with throwing a party every year? It perfectly distracts you from the fact that your baby is a year older. So guess what? HE’LL GET A PARTY FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.

I’ll just focus on that and by the time I really realize what age he is, he’ll be married with grandchildren and I’ll be too old to freak out about anything anymore.

I had fun planning this one because it felt like all pressure was off. You know how the 1st party is a big deal then so is 2 because it’s like “but CAN you really throw a party?” and after that the fact is established, so it’s smooth sailing from there. I was also in love with our movie premier theme.

While I understand that I won’t have full control over his party themes forever (clothes – hopefully, but maybe not party themes), I do always want to put a creative spin on it. And this one was fun for sure.

Here are a few pictures from the event!

2017 Costume

Tis the day after my birthday and it’s a fun one.

While we don’t go trick or treating, we do like to have fun and get creative around here, also laugh and consider ourselves “kind of a big deal.”

So I thought this was the perfect costume for Jackson this year.

I hope you all have fun tonight! :)

Two Legit to Quit

A peak into Jackson Fest 2017.

Kicking off a year that will be wonderfully two (not terribly two) – I wanted Jackson’s second birthday party to be a concert theme. Mainly because I wanted to work in black, white and gold AGAIN. Lord, I love black and white.

If you were to ask me weeks before the party what we’ll be doing next year for his birthday – my answer was quickly CHARLES CHEESE (last year I kept saying – Smokies Game!). But the truth is, we love gathering friends and family and celebrating at our house! Sorry Charlie.

Here are some fun shots from the party. Holy cow – Sarah Moser did an amazing job taking pictures. Someone said she really captured the feel of the party and boy did she!! I’m excited to have these to look through years from now to remember how much fun we had celebrating our little Cool Cat.

She also did a great job taking pictures of our family, so be sure to book her for your next family picture event!

Two is the Magic Number

2 is how old my child will be next week.

2 is the number of posts I am away from a full 1500 posts.

That’s a lot of big two’s.

I’m excited about two-year-old Jackson. It will be anything but terrible. I’ve enjoyed every step of the way with him, so getting to hear him talk more and laugh more and form his own jokes (as he’s starting to do) is very exciting.

I’m also excited about having that many blog posts under my belt. Blogging is a weird thing, and the idea of it sure has changed since I first started back in 2010. But I’m proud of what I do and I’m excited to see where all the world of blogging goes in my next 1500 posts.

Enjoy your weekend!

A Patterned Skirt and a Well Layered Little Boy

layering for boys, patterned skirt, midi skirt, how to dress toddler boys, boy clothes, mom blog, mom fashion, little boy fashion

A patterned skirt and a well dressed little boy are probably two things on a long list of my favorites (a list which also includes bread and the sound of walking through snow).

They also happen to be two of the things I’ve written about on the Knoxville Families Magazine website this month. I wanted to provide the links to those articles so you can enjoy.

The skirt came from Forever21 in West Town Mall, and Jackson’s outfit came from…all over the place but mostly Old Navy and GAP Kids.

A patterned skirt can do a lot more than you realize. Read what all it can go with and what it can do for a last minute look.

And while I’m not unearthing fashion secrets with this next post, my hope is that it will help inspire looks for little boys in your life.

Once you’re done reading those, be sure to read about the perfect shopping outfit. It is, after all, shopping season! Whoop whoop!
