Summer Shoe Inspiration

Good news: I’ve got a great way to update your whole closet for summer without spending a lot of money.

Better news: It will always fit.

Maybe you just had a baby and your tight fitting shirts aren’t so flattering yet (HYPOTHETICALLY). Maybe you plan on eating a lot at summer cookouts and you don’t want it to show. Either way, there are two categories you should stick to that will breathe new life into your basics: jewelry and shoes. Now let’s cover the latter…

Summer shoe trends have changed in the last two years. Where we used to see lots of heavy gladiator styles, now we’re seeing more simple slides. I can’t say that it’s good comfort-wise because it really depends on the show. I can say that it’s great style wise because now we can more easily throw on a pair of patterned shoes with a totally neutral outfit and instantly add some personality.

Also, it’s another way to wear animal print. I’LL TAKE IT.

Here are some beautiful slide/animal print styles I found at Fiore Boutique in West Town Mall. They really have a shoe for every occasion this summer and I love all the fun details – like the scalloped edge on the black pair and the two different kinds of snakeskin slides.

And *bonus* all their shoes are currently 25% off! Not to mention their clearance section is buy one get one free (see last pic)! So get yourself in there and check them out! They recently moved to where The Limited used to be, down the Men’s Belk hallway.

Tips for Wearing Boots/Booties in a Flattering Way

west town mall, booties for fall, how to wear booties this fall, fall fashion, knoxville fashion, boots, how to wear boots if youre petite, how to wear booties if youre petite, fiore boutique, charlotte russe, francescas, shoes for fall, what to wear this fall, fall fashion 2018, boot triends for 2018, elizabeth ogle, style consultant for west town mall

Booties rocking everywhere.

I made the decision once October hit that I wasn’t going to show off my toes any more because Lord do I hate painting them. Can I get an AMEN. So I’m happy to not be sweating it out in boots anymore now that the weather DECIDED TO COOPERATE.

Since there are so many options when it comes to refreshing your shoe collection this fall, I thought I’d make it even harder with these beauties – Ha! JK. But seriously, it’s not going to be easy deciding which ones not to get.

I do hope the tips I give in the clip will help you decide which shoe is right for your frame.

Couple things I didn’t get to add but wanted to – is to make sure that if you wear a size 10 (like myself) that you try to stay away from pointy-toed boots as best you can. The will make your foot look longer and I’ve never found that to be something I’ve enjoyed – however I did read once that the bigger your foot looks, the smaller your legs looks by comparison. Sooo maybe it’s not such a bad thing to pile on the foot bulk? Haha

Another thing to keep in mind, is if you’re going for tall/flat boots, look for some with minimal hardware. That will help keep everything looking sleek and slim.

Enjoy the rest of these tips and these beautiful boots all found at West Town Mall! See their specific stores below…
Oh and not to mention my fun announcement about Elianna at the end! (PS: this is the first mention of her on TV, Abby just got confused :) – all things I’ll explain to Elianna when she asks why I didn’t save the “other” video)

All the feels for this wonderful season.

Every year I go to write a post about how excited I am about fall and every. single. year. without fail, I blank out because I’m SO EXCITED. All the words come rushing to the front of my head at once and no one can get through the door.

Cozy, cool weather, boots, scarves, happiness, orange, leaves, pumpkins, hot drinks, cloudy days, boots (oh I’ve said that already) all of those visuals are piled up in the front trying to get out in the most eloquent way and it never works out the way I want it to.

That’s why you’ll probably see a lot of all caps because I’m SO EXCITED. I wouldn’t be a true blogger if I wasn’t excited about this season, right? ;)

For my TV segment this week, honestly I wanted to just throw a big IT’S FALL party, but since I wanted to bring you actual tips and good content I went with showcasing little ways to up your game and keep yourself looking on trend this season.

To do that I visited a couple stores, even dipping into the home category because: PUMPKINS!!

Here are some of the major trends I saw coming down the runway for fall. PLEASE remember to wear trends responsibly – as in – don’t wear them because they’re trendy, wear them because you love them and they work with your style. I want you to love how you look (I guarantee it! Ha ;) and not be sulking around in something just because it’s “in style.”

Textures:

A couple different things fall into this category, first of all the pumpkins! Mix texture into your decor with a fun mix of pumpkins. All the one’s you see here are from Pottery Barn in West Town Mall. Go get them quick because they’ll be moving in Christmas stuff soon, so you don’t want to miss out!

Another place you can add texture is with layers…

Fiore Boutique has some cozy pieces that have that furry texture to them. That’s not only going to keep you warm (and feeling like you never left your bed) but it’s also going to add a great visual interest to your outfit. Especially when paired with neutral colors. Truly, you could go for a monochromatic look and pair that blush pink sweater on the end with another blush pink piece and still look good because of the mix of textures.

Patterns:

Plaid, floral and (THANKFULLY) animal print are great options for fall. I’m excited about the animal print part because I wear it anyway and when something I already wear is “on trend” it means there are going to be endless options for that piece. Example: I went looking for a leopard jacket the other day, while wearing a leopard jacket. Soooo…it’s feeding my addiction! Perfect.

The darker colored florals are going to help you transition into the cooler months and those kimonos you see up there came from Charming Charlie. Who, by the way, has a new size section called CC Curve! Go check that out! They have a lot of great options!

And if you’re ever iffy about a trend but think you’d might like to try it, a great way to go is with a clutch or a scarf. Like the pieces I have on the table. They are small additions to an outfit, but still let you test drive something and see how often you reach for it before fully committing to a piece that will hang in your closet.

I hope you enjoyed this and are as pee-in-your-pants excited about fall as I am :)

Style Help: Kimonos

One of the many things I love about winter is wrapping up in a giant open waterfall sweater. It’s that mindset that sold me on kimonos – you can wrap up in them even when it’s starting to get warm outside. Which is exactly what I did last week – wrapped up in this velvet cut out kimono from Fiore Boutique.

Side Note: When Fiore says they’re having a BOGO sale on their clearance wrack, drop everything and get in there. If only to beat me to deals like this kimono which I got along with a pair of jeans for TWENTY DOLLARS TOTAL. BOOM.

Look how a simple pair of jeans and a white *cough* maternity *cough cough* shirt are dressed up by the easy addition of the kimono.

Because this velvet wrap is so big and bold on my frame, I thought I’d answer the big and bold with some layered bracelets and a chunky watch. While most of the time the secret to styling things is balance, the balance in this case would be to balance out my small arms with chunky bracelets.

I first fell in love with this kimono months ago when I talked about it in one of my segments. In that segment I remember saying I would pair it with something white to get the print to stand out, but you can just as easily wear it with an all black ensemble. The texture it would add to a black t-shirt and jeans would scream effortlessly cool. Not to mention how much it would elevate a plain LBD.

I’ve got the very black dress in mind in my closet…

You want other ways to wear it? OKAY! If you’re hoping to pull out a kimono like this in the dead of winter (make sure it’s got a winter-appropriate fabric like velvet, or darker colors) you could belt it over a thin turtle neck with jeans and boots. Or wear it with a long sleeve shirt tucked into a mini skirt with tights and booties.

Have I proven my point that this thing is versatile? Hope so. :)

Here is a link to a similar one so you can get in on the kimono party (shoes are also from Fiore, jeans are from Old Navy)! And here is my spring version of a great kimono outfit.
