The Shoes You Need are at Belk and They’re on Sale

The amount of self control it’s taken for me not to buy every pair of animal print shoes I’ve come across in the past month is immeasurable. Any one else feel me?

Stripes and animal print are pretty much the only two colors in my closet, so when I open any of my social media apps and see everything being offered in animal print I want to buy it all.

The fact that I just walked through Belk in West Town Mall and they not only have great shoes in said prints, but they ALSO have them on sale was almost more than my self control could handle. And the thing is, I’ve got to go back tomorrow so we’ll see how it goes.

I did, however, want to make sure you knew of all the fabulous options they have so I walked around and took pictures, maybe licking a pair or two – but that’s not important.

Okay back at Nordstrom Sale time (it’s like a full season of the year – Spring, Nordrstom Sale, Summer, Fall, Winter) these puppies were everywhere. And everyone was raging about how cheap they were if they rang in even slightly under $80. These, my friends, are $50!

I’m just going to close my eyes and post the next two shoes. After transferring the one with the stripe down the side from my pictures, I was mentally making plans to go back to the store and buy them. The Lord, my husband and my closet knows I don’t need another pair of athleisure shoes. If you do, please buy these and let me wear them through you…

Okay let’s take a break from animal print for a second and talk about these floral heels. While you might think you couldn’t pull these off in the fall (CAUSE IT’S FALL OFFICIALLY YOU GUYS) you’re wrong. I think these would add a cool pop of fun to an all black outfit, even a gray tshirt and jeans.

Now back to our regularly scheduled animal print program…the kitten heel on these is just right.

You guys. These booties. Hold. Me. Back.

If that didn’t add things to your wish list I don’t know what to do for you.

Items That Make it Easier to Get Dressed This Fall

coat, burgundy coat, guess coat, great coat, knoxville fashion, west town mall, west town mall coat, how to find a great coat, where to find a great coat, fashion blog, knoxville families magazine, mom blog, mom fashion, great coat for moms, west town mall style consultant, elizabeth ogle

Not listed: a giant vat of coffee. That would certainly help me get dressed.

It’s just nice to be pulling clothes out of a different part of my closet. You know? It’s no secret that I love fall, and believe me, I can give you 1,000 reasons why this season is the best, but any time a drastic change in weather happens it feels a little like you got a whole new wardrobe.

Other times when a new seasons hits – you’re hit with the realization that you must have gone naked all last fall because you have absolutely NOTHING to wear.

I’m going to list for you today some products that will help enhance your fall wardrobe and hopefully make it easier to get dressed in the morning without having to buy a truck load of new things.

There are whole blogs, books and fashion beliefs based around this next sentence. So you can bet that if there were a fashion bible, this would be its “golden rule” – Leopard is a neutral.

Grab some leopard to jazz up your ensembles this fall. And can I mention that while surfing for leopard items, I found at least 250 things I want to add to my Christmas list because I LOVE LEOPARD.

Grab all of those things at White House Black Market in West Town Mall.

With this new(ish) season comes cooler weather which means BOOTIES.

And what do you need with booties? No show socks. If there are shoes in your closet you’ve stayed away from because you don’t know what footwear to pair with them – go with these!!

These puppies are the best. I wear them with everything and they rarely fall down or slip off. Scoop up your own on Amazon.

Leggings open up a whole new world of layering and I’m so excited about that.

The ongoing debate about leggings has died down a bit, but some people walk around clearly confused as to whether or not leggings are pants. Come back tomorrow for the answer to that question, meanwhile, get comfy leggings here.

Soma leggings are soooo comfy!

Scarves will be making an appearance and they’re a great way to jazz up your basics. And since scarves can be expensive, why not spend less on some great earrings and pair them with your favorite scarf for a fancier feel.

I’m a firm believer in your accessories not interfering with your scarf. So I’ve gathered a couple pairs of earrings that would pair quite nicely with a big ole’ scarf…

Benefits of Stepping Away

take a step back, mom blog, mom life, how to get it all done

Give yourself a hot minute.

As I started to write this post, I began to realize how giving myself breaks has really benefited me in every area of life…

A couple weeks back I was having trouble coming up with what to wear for an event. I tried on outfit after outfit but nothing was working. I knew that if I would just walk away and stop thinking about it that once I came back, I’d get an idea. Sure enough, that’s exactly what happened.

But I’ve come to learn that stepping away helps with more than just outfit planning. Certain times I’ll write something and I won’t turn it in until I’ve stepped away and come back to it. This requires me to give myself enough time before my deadline so that I’ll have plenty of time to step away and I’m glad when I do because it’s so beneficial.

Lately I’ve been applying this method to our house.

I’ve shared before that I’m the type of person that sees a mess and I allow it to make a speed bump in my mind (not when I see a mess at other people’s house, only at my own for some reason).

Here lately I’ve been purposing to turn that off and spend guilt-free time with my family. The guilt, of course, coming from none other than me. But it so helps my ever whirring mind to turn off the part that’s constantly cultivating a t0-do list.

I know I’m not telling you things you don’t know. But I think it’s good to have a reminder every once in a while. I got the reminder from this gal and thought I’d share my own with all of you.

This is my absolute favorite month of the whole year. In order for it to not feel like it’s passing me by, I purpose to stop and enjoy the pumpkins, the smells, the weather, my family (don’t judge me for not listing them before pumpkins). I want to take that stopping and enjoying with me for the rest of my life.

Let’s all do it more, shall we?

Fall Fashion Inspiration 2017

fall inspiration, fall fashion board, fall fashion 2017, knoxville fashion blogger, knoxville fashion blog, knoxville fashion

Have they made sneaker boots yet?

At the start of every new season, I make a style inspiration board.

It’s especially important at this glorious season when I want to pile all the scarves, sweaters and boots on my person at one time – Joey style.

I put this board together and thought I would later go back and add more, but looking over it I feel as if it covers my lifestyle and plan for this coming season.

By the way, FALL, anytime you want to show up with cooler temperatures we’re good with that. ANYTIME.

I’ll share with you my thought process behind putting together this board, so that you can remember it when doing your own. And I say, “putting together” when it’s as easy as pinning stuff to a specified board on Pinterest.

With these pictures I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel – I want everything to be congruous with my style, just set expectations for how it will translate in Fall 2017.

Those casual shoes that are pictured in the first pic from the left? Those are a great example of what I’m talking about. If they were around in 2016, I didn’t give them any thought. Now I realize they’ll help me dress up my athleisure looks without losing the comfort of sneakers. It also feeds my never-ending thirst for casual shoes.

I like to cover every level of dress in these boards because it helps give me direction when shopping for any occasion and gives me ideas for what to wear regardless of where I’m going.

Much of what’s pictured I own.

Those black leggings in the bottom middle picture? I own that exact pair (and could wear them every day). That gives me an idea of how to use things I already own – which is winning in every way.

When you set out to make your board – and I highly recommend that you do – don’t feel as if you need to change what you like, or scrap what you own – keep both your style and your closet in mind and pin things you love. Pin what you want to see yourself looking like.

Imagery has a powerful effect, so pinning what you want to look like will help you as you get dressed throughout this glorious season.
