Behold, the power of a chambray shirt.

My hope in this post, is to help you look at your closet in a new light.

This was my maid of honor dress from my sister’s wedding coming up on three years ago. It’s a beautiful strapless Vera Wang number that probably cost more than half my closet combined. But no worries, I found a new way to wear it last Easter.

What do you have hanging in your closet that can be repurposed?

Have you tried seeing any of the dresses in your closet as a skirt? Have any you could pull of with a t-shirt and denim jacket over them?

Do you have a dress that maybe shows a little too much up top? Have you got a chambray shirt? See where I’m going here….?

Play around with what you own. Maybe nothing works out, maybe it does. Either way you are exercising the part of your brain that sees a great ruffled dress becoming a skirt.

And just maybe, you’ve had a gem of an outfit hiding in there this whole time…

(Here’s a post I did on wearing maxi dresses multiple ways).

Easter Dresses that are Inexpensive & Flattering

#newyorkandcompany, easter, dress options, easy easter dress options, easter dress options for different body types, new york and company, west town mall, west town mall style options, new york and company style,

New York & Company has me doing a double take.

They’ve got a revenge body and they’re showing it off. For years they were the go-to place for office outfit staples, but they’ve changed here in the last couple years. Now they’re more of a Sunday – Saturday destination. They have beautiful dress-up options for Sundays, basics to get you through the week and cool athleisure items for Saturdays.

I’ve been dipping more into the dress up options (like this magnificent skirt) and wanted to showcase all that they have for your Easter Sunday look… Which (PS) was way more than this, but it’s all I could fit in a page!

If you’re not all over the floral trend but like it a little…this maxi with stripes is the way to go.  It would accentuate a straight up and down body type with the extra oomph at the waist with the tie and criss cross detail at the bust.

Of course if you’re going to do floral, Easter (aka: Spring’s debutante ball) is the time to do it. The sheer panel bell sleeves on this dress will help disguise larger arms.

Or if simple is your thing, and you’re more of an inverted triangle shape – this dress with the floral detailing on the bottom will help balance your figure and draw the eye down. Plus the pleating is fantastic!

Looking to carve out a waist or  highlight your hour glass shape? This pink sheath dress with lace details in the middle is the boss of that, so get it girl!

And wow, is this pattern beautiful! I love the colors! I also love that it has an overlay that will flow so nicely as you walk. This is perfect for hiding hips and a bum – it will all just flow right over it.

Earlier this year I lived gloriously close to the mall.

I used to say that most people like to live near a great view of the mountains, while I was perfectly content living within the glow of the Belk sign. And it’s true.

Now that I can’t consider the mall an extension of my closet, I’ve been popping into Target more often for when I neeeeed something new to wear. I picked up this dress on super clearance.

I’ve done that a couple times with dresses at Target – which completely breaks my rule about not buying something just because it’s cheap. But in this case it worked out beautifully because I saw the potential and how it could follow me well into winter.

It’s comfortable, pairs perfectly with tights and is a nice pattern that’s not stripes or full on flannel.

Plus I’m excited about layering it under some really cozy sweaters and switching up the necklaces later on.

That’s one thing I love about the cooler temps. Tights and a cozy open cardigan can really help you get extra use out of those late summer/fall pieces. As long as it doesn’t include light fabrics or colors, you can totally work it well into winter.

Here’s a very similar version from JCP for under $30!

Here are some ways I plan to style this dress and others this fall/winter.

Best Use of a 2-Year-Old Bridesmaid Dress – Ever

how to get more use out of a bridesmaid dress, dress, easter dress, easter 2016, knoxville fashion blogger, easter outfit, ootd, elizabeth ogle,

So I’m not supposed to be blogging because it’s a busy week and I said I was going to take a break from the blog because of this, BUT the minute I figured out this outfit would work I had this blog half way written in my head.

This is not a skirt. It is the bottom half of the dress I wore as the Maid-of-Honor (not “Matron” because I refuse that title) at my sisters wedding from two years ago.

That’s right. For the first time in history, the bridesmaid dress has actually been worn again.

(It’s a strapless dress that came with a black sash to go around the waste, see!).

I was scrolling through Instagram one day and came across a similarly textured outfit and immediately this popped into my brain. When this kind of inspiration strikes, I pretty much barrel through my house to get to my closet so I can try it on as fast as possible.

Sure enough, it worked as beautifully as it did in my head. And the whole thing cost less than $40 (if you don’t count the dress).

Here are the deets…

Banana Republic necklace on sale for $11 (similar here), GAP shirt on sale for $25 – here, Ann Taylor bracelet similar – here.

Looks like Katherine Heigl didn’t have to wrestle with 27 dresses, she could have turned some of them into fabulous Easter outfits ;)

No? OK cool. We’ll keep it a secret.

Whether you’re shopping this week for your Easter outfit, or your backup Easter outfit, or maybe your backup to the backup…Fiore Boutique has what you need.

That simple sheath dress first pictured above is given a unique look with the scalloped edges, and the blue dress below it (which also comes in white) will give you the ability to bare your arms beautifully as the sleeves have slits.

They’ve got a great assortment of jewellery (those pave’ chain necklaces are winking at me and telling me to take them home), and some fabulous spring wedges that will go for miles this season and throughout the summer.

Fiore Boutique is located right inside the West Town Mall entrance across from Charming Charlie – so it’s easy to pop in, pick up what you need (and several things that you just want) and be on your merry way!

They’re also a great recourse for Piko tops! Whoop! Whoop!

If you buy from them online here, enter TheSpiff at checkout to recrive 10% off your order!
