Booties rocking everywhere.

I made the decision once October hit that I wasn’t going to show off my toes any more because Lord do I hate painting them. Can I get an AMEN. So I’m happy to not be sweating it out in boots anymore now that the weather DECIDED TO COOPERATE.

Since there are so many options when it comes to refreshing your shoe collection this fall, I thought I’d make it even harder with these beauties – Ha! JK. But seriously, it’s not going to be easy deciding which ones not to get.

I do hope the tips I give in the clip will help you decide which shoe is right for your frame.

Couple things I didn’t get to add but wanted to – is to make sure that if you wear a size 10 (like myself) that you try to stay away from pointy-toed boots as best you can. The will make your foot look longer and I’ve never found that to be something I’ve enjoyed – however I did read once that the bigger your foot looks, the smaller your legs looks by comparison. Sooo maybe it’s not such a bad thing to pile on the foot bulk? Haha

Another thing to keep in mind, is if you’re going for tall/flat boots, look for some with minimal hardware. That will help keep everything looking sleek and slim.

Enjoy the rest of these tips and these beautiful boots all found at West Town Mall! See their specific stores below…
Oh and not to mention my fun announcement about Elianna at the end! (PS: this is the first mention of her on TV, Abby just got confused :) – all things I’ll explain to Elianna when she asks why I didn’t save the “other” video)

Boot Trends and How to Wear Them

the loft, casual wear, knoxville fashion blogger, ootd, knoxville, beauty blogger, elizabeth ogle, sweatshirt, sweatshirt and jeans, sweater, jeweled sweater

We’ve officially released the pumpkins. Fall is hereOK LET’S TALK BOOTS.

I’ve been secretly shopping boots for weeks (while eating my weight in pumpkin doughnuts) so I’m happy to be able to do it all in public now. The first place I go to is Dillard’s in West Town Mall. Within their walls lives my every shoe dream. No big deal.

The biggest boot trend I’ve seen and read about over and over again are these red ankle boots that I think would only work in certain settings…mostly in New York…at a fashion show. Certainly not for a visit to your grandmothers church.

If this is something that gets you grooving in your seat, but you don’t know where you can wear them try this… Take two facets of this shoe and break it up into two different ones…

First, the color. This red bootie (below) while still as bold as the one above, it’s not going to be as big of a statement maker. It will still be bold, especially when paired with black tights and a black and white dress, or even rolled jeans, a cream shirt and a leopard sweater. But it’s less red and the ruffles soften it up a bit.

Of course you can always take the bootie aspect just tone down the color…

These are perfect for people with small calves. I don/t belong to this category so I wont be partaking in this trend.

The nice thing about these boots is they can easily be worn under pants because of their sleek design. Outside of that? Rock them with tights and the skinniest of jeans.

I like this suede version because it gives the black a more blackity-black look.

Let’s creep down the leg for a second before we go all the way up…

Booties that have a wide stable heel and are low enough to wear with rolled jeans are going to be your go-to shoe.

They’re going to be comfortable, but also elevate your legs a bit which is always flattering. I love the wrap design on these with the little peak of skin that helps make them look less heavy and highly appropriate for fall.

I also like that the black version has an all black heel – to me that allows the shoe to be dressed up, widening its ability to go with more outfits.

Slowly creeping up the leg…

In my research (a term I use loosely because I love shopping boots) Ive not seen a ton of middle ground when it comes to the height of boots.

While we can get higher than over the knee boots, we cant go higher without venturing into Pretty Woman territory *ifyaknowwhatimean. So let’s err on the side of classy, comfortable and totally doable with these GB stretch boots.

These will make even a simple sweater look like a DANG GIRL outfit. Even though they are “flat” they pack a great punch. Just add them to the mix with anything from an off the shoulder slouchy sweater to a relaxed tee and moto jacket look. You’ll appear on trend and totally sure of yourself. And a little bit taller as some with a heel will elongate your legs.

Fall 2016 Inspiration Board

fall fashion, fall 2016, knoxville blogger, knoxville fashion, knoxville fashion blogger, west town mall, elizabeth ogle

Truth? I wanted to fill this fall board with jackets and boooooots.

I also wanted to change my nail polish color to this deep red. So as you can image, this fall I’ll be a pile of boots, jackets and wine red.

So that we both don’t walk around looking like crazy people this fall, here’s a list of things to fill your wardrobe with. And hey, you can get all of these things at West Town Mall.

1. Wine Red Jacket – I will wear this over everything. Pick it up at White House Black Market.

2. Army Green Jacket – This over a white tee, jeans and some booties will potentially be my uniform in a couple months, thanks to Forever21.

3. Black Pleated Skirt – Oh how I love these skirts, Rue21. It’s so flattering because it carves out a waist and gives you a little swing in your step.

4. Chunky Layered Necklace – I’ve been craving one of these, and this one from Ann Taylor is both classic and current (but isn’t everything at Ann Taylor just that?)

5. Big Bag – I like big bags, I can’t lie. And it’s going to help me combine what I need from the diaper bag with what I need for everyday. And this color…well, that’s just good enough to EAT. Pick this one up at Dillard’s or Coach.

6. Tights – Um. Yeah. These from The Limited are what I plan to slip in from September till the last possible hint of winter is gone in April…or maybe May…Junish?

7. GAP Jeans – I don’t have a reason to buy more jeans, but the fact that these and a number of others are on sale at GAP for $12.99 means I’ll start coming up with reasons.

8. Plush Hoodie – American Eagle also has “sexy” in the name of this hoodie, which isn’t often used in the description of these. I’ll bite. Mainly because if I can look sexy and be comfortable? I’m in.

9. Over-the-Knee Boots – Charlotte Russe will have me popping in a lot if they keep these great over-the-knee boots in stock! I’ve been considering these tall boots for years, this is the year I go for it.

I hope this helps get you in the mood for fall! If not, I can email you a whole LIST OF REASONS. :)

Ever gone through a shopping lull? You look through racks everywhere, yet nothing seems to tickle your fancy. I for one would like to find my fancy’s ticklish spot because I would really like to land some new clothes.

The one advantage to being in a lull is that it forces you to shop outside your routine places. At least it does me, which is how I got this dress.

Rue21 is new to West Town Mall and has a great selection of super trendy clothes. The kind of clothes that can instantly update your wardrobe for not of a lot of dough. I wandered in there to look at their new digs and check out the jewelry situation a couple weeks ago and found this dress!

I had seen this same striped dress in my Instagram feed from a lot of boutiques who (in my opinion) were asking a little too much. So when I saw it in Rue for less than $25 I was soooo in.

I’m going to style the heck out of this comfortable thing…

Go see what you can snag at Rue21 now located across from Rack Room Shoes right outside of Sears!

(Got the scarf at Express and the boots on Amazon by the way).

Taupe Boots

boots, taupe boots, market square, knoxville fashion, high-heeled boots, cuffed boots, what to wear with boots, winterwear, what to wear this winter

rooftop boots up close

Ten years ago when I moved to Tennessee from the warm climate of Florida, my boot collection was pretty thin. And by thin I mean it was one pair.

I remember wearing them around one of my good guy friends who would make fun of me calling them, “Gene Simmons boots.” I didn’t know who Gene Simmons was back then, so I wasn’t sure how to take it. I ended up marrying that friend, so jokes on him for marrying the girl with the crazy boots.

Flash forward to today and I have quite the collection of boots.

Three pairs of black – flats, high heeled, and short.  One pair of gray flats and three pairs of UGGs (I know they often get a bad wrap, but they’re freakishly comfortable and warm so suck on that, nay-Sayers!). I thought I had a pretty well rounded collection, until I realized that I needed a boot that was in between the black and the gray so that I could wear gold accents and have a nice variety.

That’s when I started looking around at taupe boots. If the color taupe involved a pyramid scheme, I would have signed up a long time ago – I love the heck out of that color. It goes with so many things and can perfectly balance silver OR gold.

When I have a specific product in mind, I like to search for it on ShopStyle. That app is like having a personal shopper at your finger tips. And it’s how I found this great pair (they were a Christmas present, really but it helped me know what to ask for). I was also wanting boots that had a cuff at the bottom so I searched for “cuffed taupe boots” and wha-la! This fabulous pair by Fergalicious fits every requirement and has the perfect heel height.

Right now is a FANTASTIC time to buy boots because they’re on sale everywhere. Take inventory of what you have, and go out and score you a deal on some!
