Plugging In

blogging, fashion blog

Oh goodness. I have tried to write a post just about all day and nothing seems good enough.

Now I’m here trying to write one about how I need to take a break and this is already my fourth attempt!

If I can’t even write about taking a break…it’s time for a break. :-|

It won’t be long. Just about a week and a half will do
. My best friend is getting married next week (eek!) so I want to give time to her special day as well!

Please know, I appreciate you.

I so deeply love writing this blog and putting posts together that will truly help you be spiffy everyday.

I’ll be back with renewed vigor (that sounds better when you read it with a British accent), and a whole list of ways to wear boots and tights I’m sure ;)

See you soon!

FALL (Insert all the exclamation points)

I’ve already considered wearing tights this weekend and have consumed more pumpkin spice items than I can count. Too soon?

You guys – it’s officially FALL!!

I’ve bought a jacket (more on that later) and I’m mentally ready to layer up. The minute it dips below 75 I’M DOING IT.

Below is my segment from this week talking about fall clothes and how to style your family for pictures. I’d also like to share some more great pieces from GAP in West Town Mall so that you too can prepare you fall wardrobe. (My mouth waters as I type those words).

Here are some more of the softspun options that I talk about in the segment. Mary Scott jokes about walking around in your pajamas but really this softspun material IS as soft as some really comfy pj’s. You’re going to want these at the bottom of your fall layers for. sure.

Shop these pieces here or just go in store at the GAP in West Town Mall!

Shopping Ideas for Fall

fall fashion, fall styling, west town mall, fall fashion 2015, fashion blog, knoxville fashion blog

So it’s not officially fall yet. But I’ve seen so many pumpkin spice-related food items that it may as well be. Pumpkin spice Twinkies – turns out that’s a thing.

Even though the clock hasn’t struck autumn, it doesn’t mean you have to wait for it to be official to start stocking up on things that will help your fall wardrobe.

Below is a shopping list for fall that I put together last year. Turns out it still holds true this year…(and I’m for real sticking to not buying gray this time…)

1. Shop in Color.

I’ve made a rule for myself for fall shopping – I’m not allowed to buy any gray. It’s the safe color to get but doesn’t help when you’re feeling a pop of color OR when your closet is already full of gray (out of protest to the movie I refuse to do a 50 shades of gray joke here).

Gray is soft, it is wonderful and boy does it go with a lot, but there are times you want to stand out. Be bold! Join me in buying off the rainbow this season.

2. Stock up on cool.

Anyone else as addicted to Fixer Upper as I am? That show could be the theme song to my maternity leave – I’ve been watching it nonstop. And forget getting inspired by Joanna Gaines’ ability to stage a home – lets talk about her ability to look so cute! She has a great style that is both comfortable but awesome at the same time.

I want to get better at buying things that will help me get dressed on Saturdays and be cute about it. This outfit with the stripes on the left is a great example. Cute and cool.

The sequence jacket is a great reminder to mix and match high and low. That also helps create a cool look and reminds me to bust out my sequence pants more often.

3. Buy textures.

leather pants, style, fall style, fall fashion, fashion blog, knoxville fashion blog, fall fashion 2015

These pictures make me think two things: I can’t wait to wear my leather pants again, and why does every girl on Pinterest have thighs that don’t touch? Girl please. Let a cheeto or two introduce your one thigh to the other for crying out loud.

I do love the left picture and how she’s wearing an all black outfit, but the different textures make it less boring and more awesome. So if you’re stuck with buying the same color and can’t get out of the rut despite your best efforts, shop for that color but in different textures so your look is multi-dimensional.

Also, the picture on the right proves you can layer/add textual interest with more than just your fabrics – this gal did it with some great bracelets for a cool vibe.

What are your plans for shopping this fall?

Orange You Ready for Some Football!?

fiore boutique, west town mall, vol apparel, knoxville fashion, knoxville game day fashion, knoxville fashion blogger, west town mall style consultant

Yeah I grimaced at the sight of UT orange the first time I saw it.

But I was a teenager then. I grimaced at the sight of a lot of things (broccoli, anything that wasn’t Tommy Hilfiger). And it was way before I moved here and fell in love with the school pride and game spirit this corner of the world is known for. It’s fun to live in a town where everyone gets pumped about something together!

So whether you bleed orange or maybe just ooze it every once in a while, here are some great game-day options from Fiore Boutique in West Town Mall. They are located across from Charming Charlie.

Be sure to stop by on Sunday from 6-8 for their tailgate party! They’ll have prizes, cornhole, food and fun waiting for you!

Good Day

Death_to_stock_photography_bonus_floral_2

Happy Good Friday to you!

It’s such an important weekend for many reasons.

At Easter we celebrate the fact that Jesus didn’t stay in the grave, He rose again! I’m so thankful to have a relationship with the God who gave His Son to die for my sins and who loves me so much.

He loves you too and wants to have the same kind of relationship with you! One where you rely on Him for everything. In exchange He’ll give you peace and joy and a hope for the future because He has good things planned for you!

I hope you remember all of that as you go throughout your weekend.

The other reason the next couple of days are important to me is because we are in the process of moving into our first house!

So for the next week I’ll be taking time off to get everything moved and settled again (unless I can get those people that move the President’s things from one house to another in about 90 minutes – in which case I’ll be back Monday – but probably not).

Thanks for being patient! Keep checking in with me on Instagram @_thespiffiest_ and come back for more awesome blogs in about a week!
